Umm... suzuki is having a phenomenal season. 18 HR , 50+ RBI. He's exactly the guy you wrangle from a desperate Cubs GM if you shop Tucker early. 10 WAR is how you market him based on tangible results. 2 rotation ready players in Paredes and suzuki 1 prospect in Cam who isn't at the top like Crow Armstrong (the Cubs have a boatload... there's no timeline on how fast they'll work out) Wesneski not needed Christian Walker not needed Resign kikuchi for Walker's contract You can put words in my mouth all you want, it was always about maximizing value
He was referencing posts made before the season started I was spot on about Suzuki Paredes stats were always going to be better at Daikin as he's a pull hitter, his home stats blow away his away
Speaking of Kikuchi. That dude has a high walk rate this year. Don't know how his ERA is under 3 right now.
Goofball journeyman. Slap hitter. Mr hustle. Great clubhouse presence. Can play any position in the infield. Has been on a handful of teams. Kinda shocked he got the call. Might say more about Matthews or Rogers than it does about Luis though.
I'm happy Suzuki is doing well this year, but his salary didn't fit in Crane's budget. Man, you seem to have a raging hard on for Suzuki.
Suzuki has a full no trade clause and his agent publicly stated he was unwilling to waive it. Now forget Suzuki exists and continue talking.
Even if Suzuki would have been available, Cam is the better value. You get Suzuki's age 30, 31, and 32 seasons. The first 2 are $17M then the 3rd is arbitration which is likely at least $20M. He's a 3.5 WAR player so if all goes perfect, you are getting 10-11 WAR for $54-$60M Cam was top 100 prospect who projected to, conservatively, a 3 WAR player. So you get his age 22-27 seasons, projecting 18 WAR for probably less than $30-$35M.
There is no such thing as a 10 WAR player. There are players who have 10 WAR seasons. Some who even have multiple 10 WAR seasons. But nobody averages 10 WAR or ever projects to 10 WAR. Babe Ruth averaged. 10.5 WAR per 162g, but only averaged 114g per season. So he only averaged 7m4 WAR per season. He had 9 seasons of 10+ WAR out of 15 seasons playing 100 or more games. And he was Babe friggin' Ruth !! Tucker is on pace for 6.4 WAR and has a career high of 5.5. Let's slow the whole "he is a 10 WAR player" talk.
