So OKC traded him to the Pelicans. Interesting to say for sure.

Love Adams, hate bringing him back. Not a big deal though.

    Agreed.

Now the same logic needs to be applied to FVV.

Canvas his value on the market and make an attractive offer based upon his market reality (which is not that high).

To pay wildly over the market is absurd, yet the inflated numbers generally associated with a FVV -Rockets deal ignore the actual FVV market which is set by the other 29 teams.

Is it possible to include him in a SnT for Durant?

FVV's a starter such he is likely worth Adams deal or better on a per minute basis, and likely plays double his minutes easy.

This would put floor of an FVV deal around $26M AAV with deal likely being more.

No. Phoenix can't do SnTs unless they shed a ton of money.

So relieved we got Adams for our championship run. If Sengun and Amen have been practicing and improving their pick-and-pop threes, if Reed has been bulking up and watching TJ McConnell videos on a loop, if our draft goes well, if, if, if... Maybe the long wait ends.

Pretty cool he resigned, the guy is Monster Rebounder. Tough guy to have off the bench.

That is not the way these things should be calculated. FVV, like every player, has a market that is set by what the teams in the association would offer them. The Rockets need to make a competitive offer within that marketplace, not in a vacuum. We should not bid against ourselves

Did not realize Stephen Adams is only 32 entering next season... context: Mutombo was a full time starter still until 35.

If I’m not mistaken, he was about 40 years old in his last season with us, which was also his retirement season (08/09, injured in the playoffs first round vs Blazers and did not return after that..). Loved him, and also love Adams, great backup C.

If Adams is a good deal market deal (i.e, has a market that is set by what the teams in the association would offer them), that is how one would extrapolate the low end of FVV's value.

The problem is that the Rockets and NBA teams value FVV much more than fans on this board, and when the Rockets set what would be the bare minimum of the market value, people will cry that they overpaid.

    It's also a declining contract:

    $14,130,435
    $13,000,000
    $11,869,565

I'm not a fan of FVV either .... BUT what's the alternative plan?

I don't buy into the idea that Shepard or Amen is ready to fill that role.

There aren't many appealing targets in free agency.

There may be options via trade, but this team has 4 picks and 3 swaps to use in trades over the next 7 seasons. No pick next year. Not having a true #1, any picks / swaps used to fill this void (unless it's to bring in a #1) reduces the assets on hand to ultimately fill that void.

I really don't like any of the options .... what's your plan?

i basically agree with what u said. We’ve got a quandary at the lead guard spot. My plan would be to pick up Fred’s option and set a goal of having Reed take over by season’s end. This protects us this year if Reed doesn’t take a step but gives Reed the opportunity to prove himself. We are also not on the hook for a Fred extension which won’t age well at the money I’m hearing.

    what do u think?
