It’s going to be either Minnesota or Miami, pretty clear at this point IMO. If Miami were open to including Ware, the deal would be done I bet. But seems like they aren’t. If I had to guess they still end up getting it done. Something like: Wiggins Jacquez Robinson (waived) Larsson/Jovic #20 2029 unprotected FRP (or first allowable) PHX gets a starter, some young players, a couple picks, and gets them under the first apron and saves ~$50M+. MIA doesn’t need KD to extend bc if he walks they have $60M in cap space next summer and they’re Miami. HOU maybe gets in there to trade PHX back #10 for #20 and a future FRP.
Houston In: KD Cleveland: Cam Whitmore, Jock Landale (NG), Nick Richards (NG), Cody Martin (NG), #10 and #29 Sacramento: Darius Garland and Jalen Green Phoenix: Jarrett Allen and DeMar DeRozen Houston gets KD without breaking the bank. Cleveland gets a young player, a lottery pick and a bunch of NG contracts to open up salary. Sacramento get a PG...there were rumors of Sac wanting him. Phoenix gets a defensive all-star center and a 2nd scorer next to Booker.
As Far as Kevin Durant, here what we’re hearing about the other teams who are reportedly in the mix as of late day Friday: •Miami is holding firm on not including Kel’el Ware in the deal—a stance that could ultimately be a deal-breaker. •Minnesota, currently a second apron team, has reportedly tried to facilitate a deal by involving the Nets as a third party. However, their lack of a tradable first-round pick could make an already complex scenario just plain unworkable. •That leaves Houston, who may be willing to overpay and give up multiple players and picks to land Durant in an attempt to leap into immediate contention. “Sheppard [among] most movable assets” … there goes your credibility Spoiler
He says the other two teams proposals are likely unworkable… then why would the Rockets need to overpay? I know Stone catches a lot of flack on this board, but does he have a reputation for being a moron around the league?
Teams looking to ADD KD aren’t going to send out their top players in return to Phoenix. Phoenix has to know the best package they’re gonna get are young players with high upside and picks. Which is why Houston is the favorite/ has leverage. Stone should be able to wait it out.
That didn't line up with what Stone was saying last month. Also, if the other two contenders aren't working, then why would Houston overpay?
Exactly. A lot of the trade scenario wet dreams posted lately seem to take into account the KD of 3 seasons ago.
Ime and Stone need to stay strong. No need to overpay at all. We were the 2nd seed last year. We have all their picks. Our young guys finally have playoff experience stay the course…. Make your best and final offer and walk away. FVV, Jock Landale, Cam Whitmore, Aaron Holiday and #10….. that’s more than enough for a 36 year old Kevin Durant who’s coming off injury and will be a free agent. No need to give up Bari, JG, 27 & 29 picks….
I hope we dont get KD Its gonna gut our roster for an oft-injured, exorbitant soon to be 37 year old No thanks!
