Donald Trump is trying to justify federal agents handcuffing California Senator Alex Padilla by suggesting that he “looked like an illegal,” his leading biographer has revealed.

“Trump saw these pictures and then has been on the phone saying to people, ‘Nobody’s ever heard of this guy,’” Michael Wolff, the bestselling author, said this week on The Daily Beast Podcast. “As though that’s an excuse. And then he’s gone on to say, ‘and he looks like an illegal.’”​

They all lie so easily, it just flows out of them naturally and fox and maga then put it out to the maga folks and they eat it up like a Sunday dinner

 

It looks like the Dodgers are allowing ICE to use Dodger Stadium parking lots as a staging ground and temporary holding facility. If so, it's a really stupid thing to do in a place with the demographics like southern California. And right now, the rumor mill is really working and a few protesters have showed up at Dodger Stadium already.

I guess some people are trying to say the Dodgers don't fully own all of the parking lots, but let's be real. They would immediately stop a carnival or an RV sale from setting up in any parking lot on stadium grounds and they could do the same with ICE. Others have said the Dodgers refused ICE entry into the stadium proper, which brings up the possibility that all the rigs in the parking lot were there to harass stadium workers, but none of that quite adds up. Plus, the Dodgers have yet to issue any kind of statement. (Maybe their crisis PR firm is taking Juneteenth off?).

Also, it was rumored the Dodgers were going to make a statement about ICE actions in southern Cal today. So maybe ICE wanted to also make a statement and the Dodgers are just one more innocent victim?

If the Dodgers are indeed playing pattycake with ICE, by association, it's also a big deal with MLB. I expect organizing will happen faster than the Dodgers' PR firm works, so look for protests everywhere. The good news is that the Astros would no longer be the biggest recipient of boos in visiting parks.

By the way, the Dodgers are playing with a patch on their jerseys honoring Fernando Valenzuela, a Mexican immigrant.

Regardless of what the Dodgers did or didn't do here, this is one of the costs of our little fascism experiment--the intentional and intense politicization of areas we'd prefer to be in without being constantly confronted by politics. It's a tax on American life that I'm getting tired of paying.

 

Update:

The Dodgers finally released a statement.

"This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled."

 

Trump is such a pathological liar. He is so damn full of sh*t. He knows damn well who Alex Padilla is unless he's getting Alzheimer's. Padilla has been very vocal in the Senate since Trump took office, especially in immigration issues.

He's also a member of the Senate Committee on the Budget, a member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee (ENR).
