Another insane stat I saw on X

Last night was the ONE AND ONLY TIME THIS CENTURY that an NBA road team won a game after having taken the lead for the very first time during the last second of the game. This is a time span of over 25,000 games.

I disagree, Pacers defence is solid and offensively they can easily keep up and be the better 3pt shooting team.

Another reason that Doncic is now a Laker.

Ratings reflect the poor job people do around the league, from people on national tv networks, marketing to the pundits.

Btw, how this series has zero games on Saturday - THE prime time ABC slot - is beyond me.

Agree. The NBA markets the bigger cities more. The low ratings are a product of their own incompetence. The product is also poorer due to so much ad time and bad officiating. The NFL doesn't have a problem with small markets and fanbases.

I think Sunday has always been a better TV day. The NBA only started doing primetime Saturdays because it was hard to compete with the NFL during the season. But it's dumb for 3 days between games 1 and 2, especially with no travel between them. Game 2 will happen on Sunday, then another 3 days to game 3. It should be 2 days apart for games 1-2 and 3-4, with 3 days apart when there's travel days.

The proliferation of social media is one of the main culprits. Too much junk flooding the space rather than some good knowledgeable analysts who help fans appreciate the game in more depth. And the lack of quality among the newer generation of announcers on national TV also kills the appetite. Resorting to "big markets" popularity isn't sustainable without too obvious rigging of the field.

Because people including those in this thread are too stupid to understand matchups. The pundits advertise these r****ded stats about largest point differential in history “oh OkC is so gREaT” without looking at the context and what the league completion was like. A lot of people just tuned out and didn’t think it would be competitive.

The people talking about marking incompetence are 100% correct

not surprised the ratings were sh*t

2 small market teams with relatively unknown players is a death-knell when it comes to the NBA

the 1st half of game 1 was some objectively bad basketball as well

OKC is basically the 2001 Sixers, but if Allen Iverson was a lot more efficient…J-Dub might as well be Aaron McKie with how inconsistent and unreliable his offense can be as a 2nd option

No, it’s on the league, the narratives that they set out, create and uphold. Oh please, the 1st half was great basketball. Even if people would turn on ESPN, as has been pointed out, how do you even know there’s a Finals going on?! Their broadcast is piss poor in selling this, just some gold trimming doesn’t do ****. Artificially putting the cup on the floor, show Finals on the screen in some shape or form etc. Damn I wish NBC got it again.

nothing I said absolved the league of culpability

19 turnovers from 1 team and the other team shooting 37% from the field in the 1st half is nowhere close to “great basketball”, gimme a fcking break

If you don’t like defense, which is part of the game you know, then that’s on you. The Thunder were responsible for most of those 19 turnovers with smothering defense. That’s great basketball.

if 19 turnovers and the other team shooting below 40% is great basketball, then do u, I don’t really give a fck
