Lol not even close. I know, I know, your eye test told you that this was true and you don't care what reality is. I've gone down this path with people often enough. Since there's literally nothing supporting the conclusion of your eye test... and literally all evidence is to the contrary, I'll have to disagree.
Cam Johnson + Cedric Coward would be a decent haul. Guessing the Rockets have a plethora of players they like and one would likely be there at 19. Colin Murray Boyles Cedric Coward Rasheer Fleming Noa Essengue Carter Bryant Asa Newell
This seems to be the flavor of the day. If so, it’s far less tasty than some of the other day offerings, but carry on…..
Need to package it for someone that can play and has upside. Not just a journeyman. Coby White, Ben Mathurin or Jarace Walker after Indiana gets swept.
He plays power forward, can’t rebound and his D isn’t great. But he’s an excellent shooter. I think I’d rather have Bari on a $20 milish per extension and hope he gets to 39% from 3 in the coming seasons, which I believe he can do. Bari is a longer, better and more versatile defender, he’s more durable, and 8 yrs younger. I’ll pass. The best of Bari is yet to come. Cam isn’t enough of an upgrade, but I don’t think moving back 9 spots in this draft is any big deal. It’s more that Bari’s size, youth, 2-way play, work ethic, and continuity trumps bringing in Cam.
I agree. The Rockets likely do not have PT for the 10th pick ... next year ... but for the following years the Rockets might. Not all of the MAG 7 will be signed to long term deals; some will be traded.
If i trade #10 it is for a SERIOUS upgrade to the roster that makes a impactful change or it is for kicking the can down the road for multiple future assets. not cam effing johnson to compete for minutes at my deepest position of strength
Is he better than Brooks? Same WS, same age, same 3pt%. Brooks is a better defender and stays healthier. Cam makes a bit more over the remainder of their two year contracts. At most it's a marginal upgrade for a guy who's likely to miss more games. I don't see the big upgrade. And I'd prefer to use our draft capital to improve our backcourt or swing for a superstar. Not waste it on an ok role player whose numbers are inflated playing on shitty teams.
Carter Bryant won’t be there at #19. Many mocks I see him going to the Spurs at #14 IF he falls that far which would suck. The Spurs continue to stack their team with high iq players who happens to shoot and defend well which we need.
same it looks like the only deal that makes sense is Brooks salary and I don’t know that I would want to do that if I could just give filler
A high quality lottery pick on a controlled contract for the next four years that could turn out to be someone special is always needed. Dillon Brooks and Jasean Tate is not in our future plans. That will clear out space for our lottery pick.
We don't really have bad contracts so they have to give us something better. They can keep their poo poo platter of Cam Johnson and #19.
He'd be a nice reclamation project Mathurin would have to replace Brooks, right? Haven't paid any attention to White since he was in college (does anyone pay attention to the Bulls?) so I had to google him. He can shoot, if he can transition to not being a chucker, and more of a complementary player, he would be quite interesting.
