I completely agree that this team needs to be a top 2 seed Baseball is just too much luck / hot team dependent Starting Brown and/or Framber twice in a 5 or 7 game series is MUCH better than any 3 game series probables.
Giving up that much for a Kikuchi level SP, when last year they only had to give up Loperfido/Wagner/Bloss for a rental? I doubt Dezenzo or Sullivan are going anywhere. I could see a trade like this happening for a Kikuchi level SP. Corona/Whitcomb/Blubaugh for a SP3. And I dont want to trade Blubaugh.
Get them healthy and make a couple of moves, pls have guys that normally hit well hitting well and I think the sky is the limit. If you would've told me that Altuve/Alvarez/Walker/Diaz would all either get hurt or hit poorly and the Stros would be in 1st place in their division on May 31st I would've said you're crazy. That doesn't even bring into account that 3/5ths of the starting rotation are going to miss a significant portion of the yr. If Brown can make a Kikuchi type trade and Arrighetti can comeback strong this is the best team in the AL IMHO. Need to find an upgrade at 2B though.
didn't even think about that. Slow as* start to the season, injuries, and guys hitting damn near the Mendoza line yet leading the division.... once they're all firing on all cylinders watch tf out. The good juju too. Framber looked like the first one outta the dugout to greet Diaz after the walk off. Having fun again.
I never have been. I am a proponent of trading star players before they file FA if you can't/ choose not to extend them. But the point of that is to bring unproven/semi proven young talent to restock the team with players who will contribute sooner than a comp draft pick will. It's to prevent having to tear down and rebuild.
Imagine where this team would be if they had traded Framber. Framber being an innings eater has so much more value than most people realize.
I did advocate they trade Framber. I still think it would have been the right move. But it would have required also adding another SP (maybe a Wesneski like guy in the deal?) I am very thankful they didn't
All the doubt was weird. This era was never over. After seeing last year's rebound and this team never really going under .500, it was inevitable. 87 wins should have always been the floor.
He’s a left handed hitting second baseman, whatever he’s doing my guess is he’d have gotten at least somewhat of a shot at it this year.
The next time I need to hear about some scrub hitting LH and playing 2B or OF will, god, I hope, be the last time. Maybe yall can argue about Chas vs Jake some more?
The front end of the rotation and back of the bullpen has dominance potential just as good as anybody, granted October Framber is a wild card. As long as you have a chance to get there, and I think this team easily does, you have a chance. Do I wish we were still a 100 win juggernaut that could use the regular season as October prep, sure, but 90 wins and a shot is something most fanbases would be very happy with. If we've regressed lower than that, then we can talk rebuild.
