The keys were never in Fred's hands, he was always seen as the temporary millionaire.

Why the impatience, Fertitta is off to Sicily or another place in Italy....back to his ancestors....

If he is distracted, I think there is not much going on, you can have all the time in the world to seek a decent playmaker.

Having patience =/ committing to a 31 year old chucker FVV.

The Rockets actually should have used the JGreen pick and Jabari pick to search for that elusive Playmaker but Rafael and his wife were too much in love with KPJ at that time.

Reed Sheppard, if given the opportunity, is an upgrade over FVV.... so yeah.

FVV would be a great backup, but you'll never get Ime to stop trying to play him 40 minutes a game no matter how much he's hurting the team, so that's not an option.

Except we really don't have that go to offensive star.

All of the stars that might come via trade have issues of their own as well as huge contracts that would cripple the cap situation - that's why many of them do get traded, their teams reach a peak and go no further because they don't have the cap space to add critical parts around those stars because they eat up so much cap space themselves.

Until this team has a go to offensive player, the front office needs to take every opportunity to fill that hole and the best way to do that is via the draft where you get 8 years of control before UFA.

In the meantime, keep collecting quality players so you have players to surround your star and some to trade.

Stack talent. (Just look at OKC with Topic sitting out a year).

If it was absolutely necessary to get a deal done for a real star, I'd do it.

But honestly, I can't understand so many fans wanting to move on from a guy who shoots 40% from deep, plays high level defense and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective .... and is on a value contract for two more years.

Brooks is just the kinda player you want to have around a superstar .... You get rid of him, you are looking for another just like him.

The only thing I can come up with is that some see him keeping Tari on the bench .... as much as I like Tari, Brooks is the better player - particularly team defender and shooter. (at least for now).

This is a good point, especially if his 3 point % stays about 37% or so. We can put him on anyone, Wemby through Shai. His defense has slipped some but not much. And his contract is good as you said. We trade him and we're looking for someone just like him-a defender who can hit the catch and shoot three and doesn't need the ball in his hands.

The more you say in these cases the less you know. Yes, the Rockets could move up, move down, move to the future, or move for a player. Congrats. I could've told you that with zero league sources.

If he had said the Rockets are dangling the 10th pick for a win-now player, then that would actually mean something.

    Trade up?

    To where?

    Harper or Edgecomb ....?

Seriously doubt the Spurs deal with a division rival.

3 with Philly is likely as high as you can get.

I dunno about taking on that PG13 contract if that's the case.

I've been thinking, what about #10 for Topic and #15? Not sure if OKC would go for this as I assume they too are attempting to trade out, but if we find a "Dillingham" partner who will give us future assets, should we consider sending those for Topic?

They traded up for Sengun. If Stone has any one move to his name....it's that one. Wouldn't mind him trying to do it again. Just wondering for who.

Edgecomb seems like the most "Ime" guy followed by Kon.

Trading for a 26 pick and a 28 pick makes a lot of sense since it frees up a lot of flexibility for the 27 and 29 picks.

Not sure how you can say this for certain. I’d actually love to trade up. I like several guys in that 3 - 6 range (Bailey, Edgecombe, Johnson, and Kon in particular).

Technically OKC traded out by accepting future picks. There was no trading up or down.

I like staying flexible. Trade up our down or out, whatever is best value we are loaded with young respect and future picks. Keep it that way.

I like winning more than flexibility. It's all about finding the best talent and the right fit for our team. If you can deal Cam in a swap to slide up 2-3 spots to get the right guy, do it.

    Flexibility < Winning

Uh who in the hell would like flexibility over winning of course winning is the primary focus. But the odds are wherever they pick or whatever they do with this pic it's not going to wind up being one of the players in the eight-man rotation unless it's a massive trade.
