I agree regardless of where you sit there’s no need for US ground troops anyways. They don’t actually need that as much as they just need the proper equiptment and defense weapon systems to stop Putin’s strikes and defend territory from ground invasion. We can also give them fighter jets and train their pilots to provide air defense and really create havoc. But Trump, JD, and the pro Putin wing of the maga brand and their activists like the ones we see here hate everything about that so here we are. Not doing the easy thing to win the war and instead putting Europe and NATO in a position to go at it alone which is ultimately going to fracture our alliances. So rather than saying “we” should I think it’s more productive to say Europe should… because the United States is an ally with Russia and North Korea at this point more than it is with Europe even though we haven’t officially left the alliance yet even though I assume that is coming soon. So what should Europe do???… well they can’t do what we can do just yet with the missile defense systems we have, but I know for a fact they have been gearing up for years with Lockheed and Raytheon to be on war footing but not sure they’ll have what they need in time. I do think Finland and Poland are two countries that should start to think about moving troops into some select territory in Ukraine to extend their defensive position beyond their borders. Russia apparently has been amassing troops at the Finland border so I understand why they want to have as many troops at home as possible but still. It would be politically unpopular in their countries but I think it would be the smart thing to do. Hold defensive positions in Ukrainian territory not held so Russia could not advance any further and it could allow Ukraine to focus not just on defense but seizing controlled territory. War is on the doorsteps of Europe and the US isn’t coming to their aid and is more likely to help Russia and North Korea than you. So stop waiting for the bombs to fall in Helsinki and do something now to make sure that doesn’t happen.
The problem is that the EU does not want to commit either blood or more than the bare minimum of money. The EU has 10x the resources that Russia has and would win in a walk if push came to shove. The EU lacks the political will.

I did not read that thread ... The US spends 3x more than China on defense. Perhaps would be able to squeeze by on 1.5x more than China. This does not balance the budget but it is a significant step in the right direction.

Remember we spent 30-40% of the defense budget on pensions and salaries while the CCP spends their money much more wisely and efficiently. They dont have to worry about corporation price gouging the military in the same manner the USA does with its defense establishment
