Mobley making 2nd team was pretty egregiously undeserved, and largely reflects team success. Just considering big men, non all-NBAers Sengun, Zubac and Sabonis were more deserving. Also, him being 2nd team over Towns is crazy to me. That said, he had a great year and was much improved over last year.
That’s a good ranking. The only one I question is Paolo. He feels hollow somewhat in regards to his stats. I may be wrong though.
what kinda foolishness is this? evan mobley is a superior player to all 3 of them. and he's for damn sure a better big than KAT.
What do you mean? Mobley was seen as a center/PF prospect during the draft. He couldnt shoot the 3 so people were saying he wouldnt fit with a traditional center. https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-drafts/?year-mock=2021 If you think Mobley is a PF now so is Sengun since he plays PF in the double big.
So why they got owned by pacers? The year before Mobley got dominated by the NYC bigs. Better than Kat? You mean the dude who just had 24/15? lol
Mobley refused to even work out for the Rockets. They were never going to pick him - he probably would have pulled a Steve Francis and refused to show up if they did and we'd have been forced to trade him elsewhere for half value. Why is this still a discussion? Why was this ever a discussion?
Why would we keep drafting bigs with our picks? We also still had CWood in the roster and planning to get Garuba. We didnt even have the Sengun pick Stone traded 3 frps for him so I doubt he does that if we drafted Mobley already.
Green actually tries to play like Curry and Kyrie and not Kobe but he is neither. Kobe was still from the time when players shot 'long 2s'.... Even Lou Williams was more consistent.
Considering how things worked out even if Jalen became a bust I am still happy we drafted him over Mobley. Give me Sengun, Jabari and Amen over Mobley anyday lmao. Rox being 2nd seed and losing to a veteran GSW team > Cavs getting best recorded and then getting 4-1 by the Pacers.
They didn't draft the better player given the options, plain and simple. Mobley was not only the better player, he was mature at his young age. Instead, you had KPJ, Green, and Christopher together along with the problem child of Wood. So they had to overpay for FVV to add maturity to the team. Not getting Wemby, Banchero, or Cade wasn't their fault, but drafting Green over Mobley was. We don't know what their record would've been, but anybody with eyes would see they would've at least had a defensive anchor early
Mobley is indeed the better player in a vacuum but we have a team not just a simple comparison of Green vs Mobley. First of all while Mobley is good he is also overpaid. You are complaining about FVV being overpaid what about Mobley? Dude is making 46M next and up to 61M his final year which is close to Sengun and Green combined. If you have seen in the playoffs he still cant make his own shot and was totally ineffective when DMich wasnt there. Yeah he won DPOY but he was totally ineffective against the Pacers. What about the previous year when he got bullied by the NYC bigs? So while Jalen has been a disappointment, Mobley has been as well, which is arguably worse since he is gonna be the highest paid Cavs player starting next year. Secondly we dont know what the record would have been with Mobley but if we drafted Mobley we wouldnt trade 3 picks for Sengun, it wouldnt make sense when CWood is the starter and Mobley is his PF duo and then you spend 3 picks for Sengun? The whole draft history would definitely change and I am happy where the Rockets landed at with or without Green.
