The team was starting to flatline in 2023. Joe took over in 2024 and the talent level was declining. He probably isn't manager material, as we see his in game skills are weak. However, it’s been a tough situation for a new manager and even though he may have lost diva Bregman when he moved him down last year, he seems to have not lost the team completely like the dude in Baltimore did. Not really a compliment or a defense for him. We need a new manager next year. Joe is probably a better bench coach. We will see what he does for the rest of this season. Will say a lot.
People claimed the only reason the Astros didn't win the World Series in 2023 was Dusty Baker. The 2024 team had basically everyone back from that ultra-talented 2023 team except for getting rid of Maldy and adding Josh Hader. This is where those memory issues come into play when you just try to create the facts around your narrative instead of the other way around.
Being outscored 20-6 in 18 innings might've had something to do with the outcome. Some dude named uh...Garcia tore the cover off the ****ing ball.
Yea I'm not sure how anyone goes from "he's feeling better" "may activate him for the end of this series" to Yordan saying he can't even grip the bat with the right hand without pain.
W-L record and the fact that we needed help to get in to the playoffs. Clear decline from the previous season. also, astros lost to an inferior team in the playoffs
2023 was a big decline from 2022 2024 was not a big decline from 2023 as both teams won the division and I think there was 2 less wins in 2024. Playoffs are a crap shoot and espada lost in 2 games to a better team while the year before Dusty’s stubbornness was a big reason we lost to the Rangers.
I never liked Espada because he is a reactive coach than a proactive coach. It wasn't Joe's idea to move Altuve to OF- likely an Astros organizational move, it wasn't also his idea to move Tuve from 1st to 2nd, 3rd- Tuve requested. And keep Meyer batting 8 and 9 when his batting average is better than the top half of the batting order. Espada would be a great coach for the Dodgers, for a team that needs some mind decisions that he isn't it.
Losing 2 of 3 to the minor league Rays..... sad. Yordan's injury..... Altuve hasn't homered since April 28th....that was the game after his 5K performance.
