I agree with you both. The only way Ime makes roster changes is due to injury. Hell it took an injury to get our best player into the starting unit and he is playing out of position. We have 3 things keeping us from contending: 1. FVV one of the worst starting PGs in the league. 2. Ime one of the worst bench coaches in the league. 3. Stone - a GM afraid to pull the trigger on player trades and afraid of his head coach.

I'll add a 4th - not recognizing Jalen's limitations with the talent he has and reinvesting the asset capital we have to find a more talented player for his spot.

I’m ok with #4, just not sure which “upgrade” is available and worth it. One thing I will say is that I believe Jalen’s trade value is greater than most of Clutchfans believes it is.

I still haven't invested time into a specific target but anyone who can attack the paint and finish, hit an open 3 and play d. I don't care what their position title currently says, just someone who can complete those tasks in place of Jalen.

Meeting all those criteria is a high bar. I don’t care about position either. One thing is that Jabari can easily move to the 3 if we get another PF type that can shoot 3’s. I’m not as concerned with the attacking the paint part, because of Amen. Of course, nothing is going to unpack the paint if FVV is our Pg.

Since we are supposedly ok with trading Sengun, execute the below trade, then either trade FVV or let him walk. Amen, Harper, Tari, Jabari, Adebayo. Bench of Reed, Robinson, Barnes, Cam, Adams. Still can use picks plus FVV or filler to add better bench pieces or starters. Robinson, Barnes, Wesley are all expiring and available for trade or just let them go after next season. That is surrounding Amen with 4 shooters and great athleticism and defense.

Can we try and avoid sending any of our players with even remote star potential to any of: Spurs, Jazz, Lakers, Warriors, Mavericks? Could you imagine if we sent Jalen or Sengun to one of them teams then they blew up into superstars and ****ed us every year? Nah, I'm good.

Hypothetically, is possible to trade FVV to a 2nd apron tax paying team (let's say Boston) for star player (Jaylen Brown) before next season. Then team acquiring FVV decides not to exercise his team option for cap relief.

Can the Rockets then sign FVV this offseason as a free agent (veteran's minimum/or mid-level exception)?

    * I don't necessarily want Brown (insert your own star player) but just brainstorming for Stone :)

It's not possible, we're past the trade deadline for this season. For Rockets to trade FVV they have to either sign him to a new contract or pick up his option.

Just trade for KD. It would be so simple and fit like a glove. FVV + Tari or Brooks + 10

Trading for Giannis would be so f*ckin stupid. Gut our team for a possible 3 year window but also allow the Spurs to draft Harper and have Harper / Castle / Wemby for the next 10-15 years. Let Spurs have their fun for a couple years and our players will be close to entering their prime while Giannis ages out and is negative value for spurs

You cannot re-sign a traded player for 1 year.

I would prefer this if Giannis is going to cost a lot.

Found a spurs fan on this board. This is a terrible trade. Let's send a guy who led us to the second seed in west for a guy who barely made the playoffs in east and lost by 50... insane... there is nothing bam does that is better than Sengun. And we are gonna take on some terrible contracts. wtf..

Sengun and Wemby would absolutely wreck us for next 15 seasons...

    Rockets get Devin Booker
Suns get Green, Sheppard, Whitmore, Nate Williams, and their 2027 & 2029 picks back

    PG: VanVleet / Holiday
    SG: Booker / Brooks
    SF: Thompson / Eason
PF: Smith, Jr. / #10th pick
    C: Sengun / Landale

Massive upgrade at SG in exchange for Jalen, who is on a short-term contract, and guys who Ime doesn't seem interested in. I bet we're still playing right now if we have Booker instead of Jalen on the team.

28% of his games he shot 33% or less.

20.7% of his games he shot over 50%.

I'm going on a hunch here that most future allstars at his stage do better in both categories....

another insert name is Kevin Durant. The suns have a gaping hole at point guard. They need culture-setting leadership and defense. They need cap flexibility. Fred has a massive $46 mil expiring contract. I’m not sure we’d have to give up more than the #10 pick and Fred to get that done. It does leave us with a hole at point guard, but it also leaves us with most all of our prospects and picks to go out and plug that hole. Meanwhile our shooting gets a massive upgrade. And we aren’t stealing from our future to rent KD for a couple seasons. KD is still a top 10 player.

My only issue with trading for Booker

    1) We are left we a steadily declining FVV who I think most of us was willing to let go and done with after the regular season

    2) Booker could easily walk in 27’ free agency or we will be stuck paying his what 60-70 million extension? That will grid lock any further roster moves and will probably give most our picks to Suns

So within 2 years FVV could be washed & Booker could bounce FA. I’d rather hold onto Green, Reed, Cam, and our picks

Yes, Fred will eventually wash out. Eventually Amen or Booker become your starting PG. Under the new CBA, no team can afford to keep extending older, mid vets like Fred. That's why I like trading for Booker. If you're trading for Giannis, you'll have to use some of your own draft capital as well, whereas with Booker you keep all of your own picks - they become your lifeblood under the new CBA.

Regarding Booker leaving, if we're in the playoffs each year and willing to max him out, I don't know why he would.

The real fear you should have is holding on to all of these young guys and not playing them. That way you devalue them and create discontent in the lock room. This team needs a consolidation move for sure.

Bam is both a better defender and can shoot from 3 and runs the floor much better than Sengun. I still prefer Sengun, but I am a strong believer in building around Amen. If we run it back and Sengun develops a 3 pointer, I’m not trading him for anyone other than Jokic or Ant. Also Wemby might not make 2 more seasons much less 15.
