Houston Rockets are open to trading Alperen Sengun

they wouldn't offer that obviously so it doesn't matter, but i doubt anyone would laugh

 

They would offer it in a heartbeat if they didn't think they'd get laughed off the phone. How many #2 picks do you take over Sengun?

Ja? Maybe? Probably? He's super risky due to not being able to shoot or play defense and his off court problems...I definitely wouldn't, but I know some love him.

D'Angelo Russell? LOL, no
Jabari Parker? LOL, no
Victor Oladipo? LOL, no
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? LOL, no

That's all the #2 picks going back to 2010....you'd be a fool to take all but MAYBE a few of them over Sengun.

The odds are VERY good that Sengun is better than the bag of magic beans that is the #2 pick.

 

Sengun was the point of attack almost every play. Not sure what you mean by he wasnt being doubled dude was being blitzed or hedged majority of the time.



Yeah somebody like Draymond or Post would try to guard Sengun 1 on 1 but then when Sengun gets past his guy there would be 1-2 GSW waiting to meet him.

For example look at 1:25. You can say Draymond is guarding Sengun 1-on-1 but look behind Draymond there's like 2 warriors between Sengun and the rim. Part of that is Amen cant shoot 3s so his opponent just ignores him.

 

It is pretty funny how bad the number 2 pick has been historically, i chalk that up mostly to RNG than anything else. Guys like luka and embiid were far and away the best in their draft class and teams passed for whatever reasons. I still would be absolutely floored if the spurs actually made the offer though.

 

I'd be shocked if they made the offer too....but not because they wouldn't LOVE to be able to get the deal done, they just wouldn't want to ruin their credibility by suggesting something so absurd.

It would be like if the Rockets offered #10 for Giannis and nothing else.

You could harm your relationship with a FO long term by suggesting something so absurd.

Still not ideal to trade a blood young 22 year old for a 31 year old unless your whole roster is 29, that's not the case.

 

Some posters here are just rocket doubters and think the worst of the team at every step. Once they are proven wrong they just move the goal post so they can complain again.

Alpi is a 22 yr old all star and was the team's sole offensive engine in the playoffs with JG playing like crap. He should be even more untouchable than Amen is IMO.

I'm 100% trading Jalen in this case and if Alpi ends up being a terrible fit, at least he'll be very valuable on the open market to trade for a star guard to pair with Giannis.

2016 - Jaylen Brown (Brown has like 5 ecf and 2 finals and a finals mvp visits so hard to argue that resume)
2015 - Jahil Okafor (Sengun wins)
2014 - Joel Embiid (MVP winner)

Rockets front office is looking at the remaining teams - what do they all have in common (Stretch 5) (Defensive Wings) and taking 40+ 3s a game

Ime is the only stubborn mofo that had us playing 90s ball and taking less than 25 3s in multiple games

You can not win this age of NBA trading 2s for 3s…if they don’t feel like Alpi can develop into a stretch 5 and they already playing Amen / Bari as F/C … then yes you move Alpi ….Bari is who I would fight to keep over Tari but money wise Tari might stay over Bari

Rockets are 19-16 when Alpi is scores 25+ in his career

Rockets are 58-42 when JG scores 25+ in his career

Trade FVV CAM TARI + Picks - and let Ime go twin towers with Alpi and Giannis and pray Amen and Alpi shot develops

 

No comment on Sungun trade, although personally I don't want him go.

But, if we trade Sengun, I suggest we also try to find a way to get Hansen Yang in the 2025 draft. Dude is "Temu Sengun" with a larger size, legit 7 feet barefoot. I think the kid is currently kind of late 1st round or early 2nd round.

I think BTG is right on this one. The Rockets would not trade Sengun for Harper. It would be like them trading Sengun at his current level for Jalen coming into the league.

Instead of trading for Giannis I’d rather trade for porzingiz from Boston. That would open the floor up for Segun. Obviously his health and defense is a concern but he’ll I think we have enough defensive players and not enough fire power that’s just my opinion tho

I’m ok with this, but what would Boston take in return. It would need to be expiring and a pick since the only reason to jettison Porzingis is to save money next year. Keep in mind the salaries have to pretty much add up since Boston is a 2nd Apron team. If Boston wants to jettison salary it will have to be with one of the few teams that can eat his salary. This limits it to Detroit, Utah, and New Jersey as it stands now. Boston does have most of their own picks that are tradeable. Someone like the Nets might be willing to eat salary for a year in return for a pick. They wouldn’t even have to send a player back.
