Lol he has a 2.29 ERA and no right handed hitters in the entire MLB have been hitting him this season. You'll see what a "broken pitcher" looks like tomorrow though don't worry.
21 Ks in 40 ABs wRISP He's hit better this season every slot except cleanup, but Dusty has given Espada his orders.
I agree he's one of the best. But to allow him to go 8 innings of shutout baseball when he barely goes 5-6 right now (as the team wants to preserve him as much as possible) is inexcusable.
Agree. That's why I don't really care for that individual stat of W or L for a pitcher. It's a team sport. They can pitch great, and get a loss when our batters cant knock in a single base runner.
They also pitch subpar and get a win. W-L is an accurate/even stat overall. Regarding tonight, ALL of Hunter's stats increased positively except W-L. Everybody knows he was great.
It's as if there's a strategy opposing pitchers are going to when facing Walker. Start him in, then a couple sliders away and then the 4seam FB up that he swings right under, maybe I'm wrong but it feels like he SOs on that FB up a lot.
Hunter Brown looks like a 26 year old ace. Hope they don't lose him like they've lost so much other talent recently.
It’s definitely not an exact science. Obviously, having a bunch of studs in the lineup make a huge difference. W-L is a bit antiquated now for a pitcher to be judged on. There was a time when it was viewed differently and perhaps in a league dominated by pitching, it was a more telltale stat. It’s still hard to win 20 games, even with good run support. Pitchers don’t go 8-9 innings on the reg anymore.
Until the last 3 games he had an OPS of over 800 the last 20 games. Time will tell but I am not ready to write him off.
Walker needs to be moved down in the lineup until he shows he can consistently produce. Hitting him 4th is not working for anybody.
