I’d hate to lose Sengun for Giannis. I just don’t see Gianni’s’ skillset making a martial difference to this team. He can’t shoot and his entire offensive game is based on athleticism. he’d be a plus on defense though.
Something like Green to Pelicans Sengun, #7, #10, FRP from Brooks trade, future valuable first to Bucks McCollum and Giannis to Houston Smith/Adams Giannis/Shooting big Amen/Tari McCollum/Cam FVV/Reed
Agree. I mean Sengun can't shoot either so we would better in that scenario(plus defense) but still - trading an appreciating asset for a depreciating asset just seems like bad roster management unless you are SURE Giannis is going to push you into another stratosphere as a team. While we would be better, I don't think we become instant favorites in the West after trading a bunch of our good players for Giannis - at best we are in the Minnesota/Nuggets tier but we would still be a tier below OKC. We were competitive against GS - with another year of experience we are STILL a top 4 team in the West even with our same atrocious offense. Upgrade Fred of Jalen this offseason and the GS series probably looks A LOT different. ...surprised more people aren't screaming for a Jaylen Brown trade - that seems to make far more sense than Giannis since the Celtics are now going to be missing Tatum next year and have to cut salary significantly anyway. And Brown is ACTUALLY entering his prime, not leaving it.
I really like Sengun but Giannis has 3-5 Years left where he is assuredly a top five player in the league. A guy that impacts both sides of the ball and he is an underrated passer and scorer.
Seeing more and more reporting on this, so it might have some legs to it. If we're doing this, I think the shape of it should look something like this. If they demand anything more I'm out. Alpi + Tari + three of our FRPs of their choice. But one critical thing here is, we would need to add a shooting center to the roster after this trade. Maybe you do a sign-and trade for Myles Turner or Naz Reid (though with their teams being successful so far in the playoffs they may not be interested in making changes). Maybe you get Vucevic from Chicago. Maybe you talk to Boston about Porzingis. Maybe you let bygones be bygones and grab Brook Lopez with the MLE. Basically, I just don't see that roster making sense without a starting-caliber, three point shooting center. I also think it would make sense to upgrade the shooting in the backcourt--but I wouldn't be surprised to see them run it back with Fred and Jalen unfortunately. You're already talking about, with the above changes, reshaping the entire roster--I doubt they want to take it even farther. Maybe if it's some kind of two-for-one deal like Jalen + another pick (ugh) for Vucevic + White. In any case, maybe they can at least add some vet minimum sniper off the bench like Seth Curry?
We are super early in our window, in fact I would say it hasn’t opened yet. We’re ahead of schedule. I would much rather gamble on what Alp and Amen will be in 3-5 yrs at 25-28 yrs old, when our window is wide open. As opposed to trading for Janice, gutting our team and the window closed in 3 years. Giannis has not proven to be able to carry a team-at all.
It’s crazy to me how many people would want to blow up this team for Giannis. I wouldn’t want to give up more than one young piece and that’s not going to do it. We’re in a rare position where we can have a long, organic run alla Houston Astros where yes we may still be a piece away but we can now enjoy basketball year over year for the foreseeable future. We can do it home grown or blow it up to be the 2025 Milwaukee bucks.
..other than being carry the Bucks to Championship and repeatedly dragging the Bucks into the playoffs every other year. Besides for Jokic, he's carried the worst team around him to a ring in probably a decade.
Stop it. That team was stacked. He didn’t carry at all. What has he done since Jrue left and Middleton fell off? Even with Dame. Nothing at all
My memory is **** but when's the last time a team that gave up major assets for a star has won a title again?
^^^^ I agree with this so much. This year was really fun and having this as a floor and being patient for the perfect piece either through the Suns/Nets picks or a trade in the next couple years is my preference. I don't think Giannis's price will be worth it, and it significantly shortens the life of this fun era of young homegrown guys.
Stacked? Tatum, Holiday, Brown, Porzingus, Horford, Pritchard, White is stacked. Warriors...stacked. Lakers...Davis by himself was better than Jrue and Middleton. Leonard, Gasol, Siakim, Lowry, Green, Ibaka is more stacked than Jrue and Middleton Lebron, Kyrie, and Love probably was close to Giannis, Jrue, and Middleton Spurs Stacked. Miami Stacked. Over the last decade, Giannis has carried a team more than any player other than prime Lebron and Jokic. I think prime Lebron or prime Jokic as the bar to consider adding a player to the Rockets is way to high. On nothing at all, Giannis has accomplished more with a team as barren as his than any player other than Jokic (not counting Lebron who can't carry a team any more).
