If we don't get Kon or Tre, we should trade the pick in a package for a star.

Next year, teams aren't gonna be caught off-guard in the regular season when they play us like this year. They will know Ime coaches a hard playing team and our big advantage will be gone like in the playoffs.

Since this front office believes in Jalen so much, we all better collectively hope he's just had a mediocre start to his career because of skipping out on college because we desperately need an offensive star to lead our horrible offensive.

So far, of the guys projected to be available near our pick this is who I'd roll the dice on.

I picked Kon Kenepple as my choice, but I seriously doubt he is available at 10th pick. However, I am very intrigued by Carter Bryant too. He looks like he could be a good player, he plays good defense and looks fluid out there.

Some may say there are already too many young players on the team with little playing time available to disperse, but the Rockets would do themselves a favor by trading guys that may be in line for a big payday but don’t figure to be part of the core group.

Rockets are going to have to pick their horses and move some of the other fellas, because if they don’t, the team will get too expensive to keep in tact.

Personally I subscribe to getting rid of the low IQ players, such as Jalen Green, Eason, and Whitmore. Those guys are extremely talented, but super low basketball IQ.

Tari may not be the highest IQ player, but only Amen can touch his motor. Tari stays ;)

I like Kon so much I’d consider trading Jalen to the Wiz just to draft him at #6.

Knueppel for me. I also like Jakucionis a lot. If neither is available then Carter Bryant who looks like a nice 3&D prospect.

Nobody we get with the 10th pick will play for Ime this upcoming season. Only keep it if the offers are ridiculously low.

I know you are supposed to always go BPA but I’m very concerned about having another top 10 pick getting red shirted by our stickler head coach. If it’s me I role the dice and swing for the fences for the highest upside long athletic rim running center in the draft left at 10.

Anyone in this draft short of Cooper Flagg is getting red shirted this year as a guard or wing assuming everyone in the rotation is back.

No one other than Harper or Flagg cracks our rotation for two years if we stand pat. If Stone stands pat this year we will have a lower seed and be punted out of the first round. You cannot win with a putrid offense no matter how good your defense is. Ime is not the coach that will take us to the finals. The competition is just to well balanced and well coached to surpass them with a bottom five pg.

...kind of depends on what the projected ceiling is of BPA but I totally get your point that this may be far enough in the draft that the tier of player you get has only a small chance of being a rotational player so just swing for upside.

Personally I think given we are certainly heading towards a consolidation trade, it's appropriate to think of this player as either someone we can grow to replace a guy we are probably trading(think guys like Tari, Bari, and Jalen who will certainly be in trade discussions), OR think of this player as an asset to facilitate a trade. I imagine the trade discussion will start before the draft because some teams might want to pick their own 10th pick.

Decisions have to made this year on Tari and Jabari. Next year decision need to be made on Amen and Cam. The following year a decision has to be made on Reed Sheppard.

You can’t keep them all, if they aren’t going to accept less money than they feel they are owed.

I remember the Jermaine O’neil situation (a high school leap into the NBA); then the Trail Blazers gave up hope he’d be a star player, and figured he’d be just a role player type. He then goes to Indiana and becomes a perennial all-star.

That is the risk of very young guys like Green, Smith, Amen, Sheppard, Cam, Sengun, Tari - they may not fully come out of their shell into stardom until year 5 or 6, by the time they are 23, 24, 25 years old, which used to be around the time NBA players started to get a feel for the NBA when guys would go to college until they were seniors and juniors.

There is a happy medium. Keep the youngsters jettison FVV and Dillon and Frp’s to balance out this team.

Having only one year of data on an 18 or 19 year old in College really makes it difficult to determine how they'll fair in the NBA. I really wish players would stay in College until their Junior year just to make it less of a risk of what you are getting there. NBA product would probably be better to.

The Rockets can't expect him to be available at 10. They'd have to trade up I would guess.

Pretty much agree. We need players that can shoot and both fill that need. We would need to trade up for both though. Maybe his ankle sprain and missing the combine will drop Kon a little?
