I kind of want the Mavericks to go all-in with Giannis if only to send a young superstar player in Flagg to the Eastern Conference for a change.

Mavs doing that would actually be hilarious

At least 50/50 odds they still don't win a championship before all three of their guys are running on fumes or retired, and their franchise is left with nothing. Would just have to hope that happens before 2029.

My guess is they actually go the opposite direction - the owners don't seem to care about basketball, so just lower payroll & use Flagg's rookie deal to sell tickets & get above average production, trade Davis for picks.

There are always hidden Star Players in Small Colleges, Canada, Europe.

Rockets must do heavy research in Canada and Europe especially.

    Kawhi Leonard San Diego St.

Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Jamal Murray - Canada

    Giannis - Greece

    Nikola Jokic - Serbia

Looks very talented and crafty. At that pick it wouldn't be a gamble at all

The thing is, this is true, but finding a star player with a later pick (not that #10 is that late) is not just about picking the right guy--it's also about being able to give him the opportunity to succeed. I'm not convinced the Rockets can do that right now with one of these top young teenagers, after seeing what happened with Reed. Maybe an older prospect with more polished skills who can really keep up--that's been the MO for some of these successful teams. But I don't see a guy like that who makes sense at #10.

So, trade back if you want to keep developing young guys IMO. It's usually a good value play anyway--teams tend to overvalue one pick now versus multiple picks later.

I think Green and #10 to Charlotte for #4 is a great idea. It works well for them and for us.

And he's a tough shot maker. He hits step backs like harden, dame, etc.

Keeping Flagg and trading away old guys is probably the best basketball move. I just don't trust Davis to stay healthy, and I just don't trust Kyrie. I think they could probably rebuild around Flagg very quickly such that any short term wins they would lose would be made up quickly.

Move back to around #16 and get Rasheer Fleming or Carter Bryant

The thing with Flagg is, he's really good, but I'm not convinced he's definitely going to be "#1 on a championship team" level good. There's a chance, but I think odds are better that he's a bit borderline, like Paul George-ish. I could even see him being a bit disappointing and not being a perennial All-NBA player, but still making some all-star games. He's not quite a Wemby level talent, more in the range of guys you see pop up once every 3-4 drafts on average--really hyped up, but not "once in a generation" level. Looking back at guys with a similar level of hype, I'd say about 1/3 end up being superstars or right around that level (AD, pre-injury Derrick Rose), 1/3 end up being "normal" all-stars (KAT, John Wall), and 1/3 end up being labeled as busts (Ben Simmons, Andrew Wiggins).

So if Dallas does decide to blow it up and rebuild around Flagg, it will be interesting to see how that goes for them. Still a decent chance in that scenario of a 2029 lotto pick, IMO. It would depend on how good Flagg ends up being and what they end up putting around him.

Giannis is a Spur if he leaves Milwaukee. The faster we accept that, the better we will be off.

This appears to be an extremely WEAK class outside the top 4 and Rockets don’t need any more projects.

So time to cash in IMO - Green, Jabari, Cam, #10, + future picks for Giannis. Then sign or trade for a true professional shooter and let’s roll!

I like the idea of Joan Beringer as a developmental big behind Sengun and depth if Adams leaves... could probably trade back for a future asset... wouldn't rule out swapping with Brooklyn to let them move up and then take a stash player overseas for the other pick...

I'm not necessarily upset with that. I think it could limit Victor's development and not sold on Fox being a winning player. They would certainly lack shooting and spacing.

If they spend castle and all their future assets on Giannis I'm somewhat happy. Our guys entering their prime as Victor breaks down and Giannis is collecting checks...
