This is old news. The transaction was done at the Luka trade they just had to wait until today to announce it.

I don't understand the leagues obsession with the Spurs. They consistently get bailed out season after season. Our rebuild has been longer and we haven't gotten first in the draft since Yao Ming in 2002. This is ridiculous. Maybe its because we don't have a good showing at Toyota Center while the Spurs and Mavs have strong fanbases?
Absolutely. You squander the year because you feel you have time. You never know how things will turn out. Absolute worse case scenario for the Rockets.
You keep saying that but Dirk won a championship and Luka was in the finals last year. If saying it doesn’t matter makes you feel better then fine, but what happened tonight was huge.

I think for us, we are darlings of the league, many here don't see it because we don't win many championships, but this franchise is one of the most consistent, perhaps even the most consistent franchise in the NBA? Maybe even top 5? We don't go decades without playoffs, we're usually always relevant, and so this is why those like 4 years with no playoffs felt like hell for us. The Rockets also have a long list of HOF players that have worn our jersey too, it's just unfortunate we only have two championships to show for it. But to put things in perspective, a 4 year playoff drought, what we just experienced, is tied for the LONGEST in franchise history, going back to the 1999-2003 The Rockets are valued in the top 10 in the league as well as a business, I think if the league did rig this, maybe their thinking was we're doing okay, we don't need another top 5 pick. As for what the deal with the Spurs is, I don't know, I think part of it is they are just run so well so they tend to create their own luck.
And just like that, that 2029 pick is tradeable. 2029 first round draft pick from Dallas and / or Phoenix (two most favorable of these and Houston, Houston outgoing to Brooklyn) Houston will receive the two most favorable of its 2029 1st round pick, Dallas' 2029 1st round pick and Phoenix's 2029 1st round pick and Brooklyn will receive the least favorable of the three.
