See also, "Butler, Jimmy + Phoenix Suns".

The Bucks will get a large haul for the Greek freak should he become available.
Since we won't yield Amen or Sengun (nor should we), likely Jalen Green + Jabari Smith and 1st rounders. And cap filler.

FWIW, I don't see the Spurs trading for him either. They too would have to sell the farm. They'd undoubtedly have to give up their ROY Castle, which I doubt they wanna do, along with Devin Vassell + Keldon Johnson + 2-4 FRP's. Then the cupboard is bare and it's just Wemby, Giannis, and Fox, surrounded by a bunch of bench-level players + no immediate future draft capital. Does it make them better right now? Probably, but they're not contenders with just those 3 guys. As we're seeing right now with teams like Boston and OKC, depth is more important than ever. And they'd be selling off their future core in the process. Their spacing would also be horrible as neither Giannis nor Fox are shooters.

yeah the thunder's is a weird path to extrapolate from; we don't have anything like an SGA-level player when they made the stay-the-course decisions.

BREAKING NEWS on ESPN!!! Windhorst just said that if the Rockets get the number 1 pick, Milwaukee would be open to taking Cooper Flagg in a deal for Gia Freak. Gotta love that woke station :)

Outside of OKC, we have the best package in the league for Giannis. So.. if the front office wanted him we would have him.

I don't see OKC trading for him unless they fail to reach the WCF.

How did it work out the last time the Rockets traded for a former DPOY center that derives Al of their basketball value from freak athleticism?

Also, the previous one wasn't about to turn 31.

Ok there are obviously major differences here. Dwight is significantly more limited than Giannis both offensively and defensively. Dwight was also coming off of back injuries that severely crippled his athletic ability. Giannis is coming off one of his greatest statistical years ever for the Bucks and has not had the injury bug. Dwight was coming off his worst statistical year since his magic days.

I also don't think Giannis is only athletically gifted. He has shown that he has some post moves and can hit the midrange jumpshot albeit inconsistently.
Giannis is also a great passer and can actually create consistent double teams where he can kick the ball out to shooters or slashers.

Your comparison is just not fair or realistic at all.

Giannis, like Dwight Howard, flat out can't score further than 3 feet from the rim... and he had his lowest FG% within 3 feet of the rim since he was 24 years old last season despite having over 20% of his total FG% dunks for only the second time in his career.

Now sure, Giannis is a better scorer than Howard ever was, but when you rely entirely on freak athleticism, you aren't going to age well.

He's going to be 31 this next season, he probably isn't in the league at 35.

We need to realize that we're talking about the tail end of his productive career. He's not a LeBron or KD who will still be going strong in his mid to late 30's. These types of players usually hit a wall some time between 32 and 34 and a soon as it happens, they're done.

If traded, he will be a Knick.

Are we talking about Dwight Howard? That was a sign and trade???

It’s been a while but I thought it was just a free agent signing

also Dwight couldn’t handle or pass like Giannis can

I think the Rockets get this done

we haven’t been to a finals in 30 years, and the West is WIDE OPEN

OKC is a paper tiger, and no one else really stands out as formidable

I'd be curious to see how Giannis and Sengun fit. Seems like not very well, but this is a situation where if you can make the trade work, you figure it out. Top 3 NBA player.

I wonder if you could send out Jalen, Jabari, and Cam (I would really prefer to keep Cam/Reed, but one is probably headed out in this deal) along with a couple FRP for Giannis.

    FVV/Reed
Amen/McVeigh (that's right - put some respect on his name!) Probably need to get a backup SG in free agency/draft
    Dillon/Tate
    Giannis/Tari
    Sengun/Adams

Knicks are tapped out. The Bucks would be on the mediocrity treadmill if they obtained the various Knicks who would be available in a trade. I don’t see it.

Everything depends on where Giannis wants to go. Apparently his relationship with the Bucks ownership is great and they will look to accommodate his wishes.

I think the Rockets are much closer to contending than the Spurs and are his best choice. Hopefully we learn something soon.

I think Fertitta pushes Stone to make it happen if it’s a realistic scenario. He knows the revenue increase that will come with a team that has a bonafide superstar.
