It's the 15 day rather than the 60, buuuuut given the way this team handles (announces) injuries, we'll see him in 2028.

The Key word here is gave. That $125M is gone. It does not make playing him a good idea. There are better options at 2nd base and in LF already on the team. He should be playing from the bench until he shows he has turned it on again. I know it, you know it, and Altuve, who knows more about baseball than 99.99% of the world knows it too.

Our fearless leader just managed to fit Altuve, Dubon and Rodgers onto the same lineup card the same day while Chas, Smith and Caratini sit. Dubon and Rodgers have to sit before I care at all about Altuve sitting.

Yeah. If he is declining (and it’s not just a slump or temporary injury related), his bat speed/strength seems to be declining ahead of his foot speed. That doesn’t bode well for replicating the contact rate/profile from his first 3 MLB seasons, but he could turn into a singles and doubles hitter and stay viable. But that would absolutely require him to improve his baserunning.

What you need to understand is just because I post something does not mean that I agree with it or want it to happen.

I will frequently post what I expect to happen and my opinion about it is not relevant or considered.

6 man rotation that does not include Wesneski (or Arrighetti or Garcia or Javier or France)

Framber, Brown, McCullers, Blanco, Gusto, Blubaugh

Minimizing starts for Brown (and Framber) doesn't seem like a good idea. Why not a 2+ reg starters with the remaining 3 skipping alternating starts while being available for long relief?

I'm excited to see Blubaugh get a couple more turns in the rotation.

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/yordan-alvarez-injury-update-20319988.php

Yordan Alvarez’s right hand muscle strain is “better,” but the Houston Astros slugger has yet to resume swinging a bat, manager Joe Espada said Friday.

“Rest is what will get him back to us quick, so he is resting,” Espada said. “He hasn’t picked up a bat yet, but doing treatment and the work he’s doing with our trainers, he is feeling better. So hopefully we can continue to do that and progress to maybe getting to grab a bat here in the next few days. But right now, he’s trending in the right direction.”

Alvarez ran in the outfield under an Astros trainer’s supervision Friday, prior to the team’s series opener against the Reds. He declined to speak with reporters.

    Other injury updates

    • Forrest Whitley, who is on the injured list with a left knee sprain, threw a bullpen Friday at Daikin Park. He could make a minor-league rehab appearance Monday or Tuesday, Espada said. Whitley is on the 15-day injured list retroactive to April 24.

    • Cristian Javier threw 15 pitches off a mound at the Astros’ minor-league Florida facility recently, Espada said, a big step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Javier had Tommy John surgery last June.

    • Reliever Shawn Dubin is “moving along nicely” in his recovery from right shoulder inflammation and a minor ankle issue. Dubin has not allowed a run in four minor-league rehab outings at Triple-A.

No need to do 60-day until you need the roster spot. Probably just a matter of time
