Happens, players talk to their mirror selves to motivate themselves.

If you can get good trade value, you pull the trigger. If not, then try a new role for him next year.

Hmmm... Typing the above got me thinking, if we hold onto Jalen and "demote" him or lessen his role, that's not going to increase his trade value from where it is now.

The only option for his trade value to increase would be for us to start next year with Jalen as lead dog again, and he catches fire and we trade him before the trade deadline. That doesn't seem likely/reasonable.

So the two realistic options are to trade him now (no matter the value) or keep him as a 2nd or 3rd scoring option starter or in a 6th man role.

Should have never re-signed him. Should have never drafted him to begin with. He just never lived up to the hype of that #2 pick.

Right now, we need at least one really reliable 3 point shooter. Cam Johnson for Whitmore and the 9th plus a good 2nd round pick. Re-sign FVV to the vet minimum on a 2 yr contract.

I think it will now cost assets to get out of the Jalen contract.

Hindsight. NBA lottery is the most hit or miss in all of sports.

A lot of us knew beforehand. The criticisms of him in the lead up to the draft are exactly why he still struggles today, none of this was a surprise.

The Rockets are a 50+ win team and forced a good Warriors team to game 7. I'm not a Jalen Green fan. I would've traded him last season. But right now we shouldn't be aggressively shopping Jalen Green just to get rid of him, trading him for pennies on the dollar.

The Rockets can afford to see whether Jalen's first taste of the playoffs can motivate him to improve in the offseason and become a better player for next year. If he doesn't, there's still an opportunity to trade him before the next trade deadline. Also, we should be getting another veteran guard on a cheap contract that can shoot as a contingency plan if Jalen continues to be inconsistent.

As much as I want to see Jalen succeed for our team, I can’t help but think now that his ceiling (for the Rockets at least) is that of a microwave-scorer 6th man, a la JR Smith.

I would love for him to prove me wrong and string together a whole season of consistency plus playoffs, but in the meantime, I think the team needs to be built around Amen, who reminds me of what Shaun Livingston was suppose to be before his catastrophic knee injury - a tall PG who can handle and playmaker with the best of them.

Sometimes, the hope is that your top pick can turn into what you think his potential is. Can’t deny his athleticism. And he was basically a kid when drafted. Problem is he hasn’t grown up. There’s still a chance that he will get it, but I have my doubts after what I saw at the end of this season.

My issue with it, at the time as well as now, is that they took a low odds lottery ticket over a sure bet all star.

Jalen: no more waiting, get rid of him. Literally for anything. Serviceable role player. Has little value left in teams thinking they can "fix him".
Jabari: maybe the trade deadline. Probably the following trade deadline. He's just still so raw but his kit so damn perfect for playoff ball.
Tari: no more waiting, probably get rid of him. Makes too many mistakes in key moments and I don't trust him in the playoffs. Also his leg.
    Amen: give him the keys
    Sengun: give him the keys
Reed: better show something next year
Cam: better show something this summer league

I'm cool with literally anything so long as I don't have to see ****ing Jalen Green in the starting lineup again.

You guys are way underestimating Jalen’s trade value. I’m ok with trading him, but this give him away after the playoff performance is really stupid, especially since Kerr was determined to shut him down and Sengun couldn’t hit bunnies and nobody else could hit shots including Sengun to change the strategy. Jalen improved his defense this year, although not as much as his stans claim. So did Sengun. Both regressed on offense. I’m ok with trading Jalen if it nets us an upgrade to our backcourt, but as currently constructed we don’t have a viable replacement for Jalen. Having blind faith in Reed or Cam being that guy is just as much of a stretch in believing in Jalen. At least, Jalen has shown some signs of stardom.

Realistically you probably give him another year.

Kobe took the jump in year 5 so. But most people don't think he is worth the comparison, more
of a Zach Lavine when he wants to be. If he continues to be inconsistent, i say in 2026 deadline there might be
    some good trades out there.

Green contract might be valued as a rebuild building block, and maybe he had some
good games to up his trade value. Right now you may pass because of the Series making his trade value on a
    all time low.

    Just saying...

Oh ya like this, but also id bring in some more shooters like Duncan Robinson, Luke Kennard, or Mallk Beasley.

There should be free agents willing to join a 2nd seed now.

If you stucture FV Contract where rockets could get these shooters, im pretty sure hed take the discount.
Yet Fred will want a little more than that hehe. More like 4 years at 129, with a team Option

I was not a Kobe fan... but this is seriously disrespectful. Kobe was better in Summer League than Jalen is today.

I don't think it's a trade him no matter what situation.... but his position is by far the biggest need on the team.

Didn't seem to make Sengun suck.

Guess that evil Silas only hurt Jalen by completely catering everything to him and letting him do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.

1 for 1....what do you think is Jalen's trade value? What is the best player out there that he would net us?
