Sengun deserves more of the benefit of the doubt than Jalen does, but they aren't far apart. Both players really put in a lot of effort to be a better defenders.
I think this took from Sengun's shooting touch.
There is no reason he cannot improve this. If he can shoot marginally better- 2-3% better while maintaining his defense and passing, it would be huge for the team
I don't worry about his attitude. I am more concerned about some of his physical limitations.

I blame his teammates in green, Smith, Brooks and eason. No one fking stepped up and when we have fvv running point, no one was remotely open for an ez buckets resorting to dumping it to sengun who forced shots.

Sengun played with a ton of heart. He also desperately needs to work on some things, his shooting in particular.

He will be better next year because of this experience.

I love how people point out his offense this series, and make no mention of the fact he's being defended by the best defender of this generation, and on top of that said defender is allowed to consistently foul him with no whistle.

No sh*t he didn't shoot so well this series.

If you want to say 'hey alpi improve your touch bro you missed so many gimmies this series' that would make more sense.

For starters he should stop shooting fadeaways.

The Warriors dared him to beat them one-on-one while throwing doubles at Jalen and Sengun just couldn’t get it done. Watch the games. He got all the looks, but the efficiency was ghastly!

And people really need to let go of the whole 'what about Jalen Green?' thing. He’s not off-limits either, he can be traded just like Alperen.

obviously Jalen isn’t one either LOL wtf. Neither Sengoon or Jalen are superstars or anywhere close to it.

the only guy on our team with that potential is Amen. We shall see if he can get there

he needs to be able to shoot free throws and get a 8-10 footer around the basket. And make his layups. It’s not asking for too much. But until then it’ll be rough

But he can get in the lab and work on his jumper (just like Amen). I trust that he will do that.

He needs a legitimate jump shot. For how often he plays the high post, he needs to be a legit threat to shoot from there. I think this’ll fuel him to work on this in the offseason.

Played with a ton of heart, we left him on an island with Draymond.

21ppg on 19 shots is not good at all but that's what you get when you leave the guy going up against a DPOY candidate big man with fewer shooters around him than any big who can't shoot. They never leave Giannis to do that. Surround Sengun with a 2021 Brook Lopez, PJ Tucker, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday and you'll get a massive increase in assists or scoring efficiency if not both. A simple cut to the basket by any of those 4 surrounding players would have resulted in an assist for him and a high % shot for us.

We just played stupid offense. Sengun played with a ton of heart and motivation, he grabbed boards, he upped his defense for most of the series.

The correct move would have been to bring Amen off the bench (where he still would have given us his 16ppg in a fast pace) while Sengun would have had 4 shooters around him to dish to in a slow pace halfcourt offense. If you think Amen was our hopes and dreams, then you should have surrounded him with 4 shooters and brought Sengun off the bench but that would have been crazy after building the offense around Sengun for 2 years.

What's stunning is Sengun could have taken twice as many 3's this series with the space he was given up top and at least that would have opened the game up for everyone else more by bringing Draymond out of the paint. He shots 37.5% from 3 in this series.

I think he will have a serviceable 3PT shot next season and along with this playoff experience he's going to ascend to another level.

Love sengun, just feels like the finesse in his game for scoring isnt there as much as I thought, i never had trust in his midrange or his dirk esque shot or even his touch shots the back half of the series. Don’t get me wrong. We build with him. But offensively he scores at the rim pretty well and has good footwork, i hope the touch shots and 12 footers can get more consistent. It’d be huge.

Sengun missed a wide open layup in the beginning of the 4th and then quit.

You literally added nothing in replying to me. Yes, they did let him go one on one for the vast majority of the time against this generations best ever defender.

And a defender who is allowed to repeatedly foul.

    What exactly was your point?

Spare me the 'he was fouled' talk. That’s exactly the lens Alperen plays through, always looking for the whistle, every single possession. But this whole series was a grind. Physical on all sides. Everyone got away with contact, including Sengun. That's not a pass for shooting that poorly, especially as a big.

I think with a young big .... You also can positively look at some projection.

Sengun biggest problem this series is that GS physicality wore him down.

He has come along way with his body the last couple of seasons . He can do it again this off-season.

He can work on a shot too. Of course that will help. But , he needs to keep getting stronger.

His defense impressed me this series

Most people would've thought that would be the end he turns into a playoff liability on.

He had to play against 5 fouls Draymond .... Most people don't escape the hospital in that situation

Anyways , I'm not concerned about sengun getting better.

He does need better pieces around him

Hahahahaha the best defender and constantly being fouled isn't a pass for shooting poorly.

    So you're just stupid?

Sengun tried posting up small guards like Curry half a dozen times this game and failed every time.

Calling me stupid? Yeah, that says a lot. Clearly this is personal for you. You see Alperen Sengun as a franchise player, and he just came up soft when it mattered most. You can spin it however you want, but everyone saw it. Big stage, big moment, and he didn’t show up.

At some point, you stop making excuses and start looking for a real star to take that spot.
