This has a ChatGPT constructed post all over it. Anyone else get that vibe. There are certain tells, which I'll leave off, because I assume there will be more to come.
Jalen just needs to have that Anthony Edwards mentality of taking 20-25 shots a night That man Ant went 5-19 and 0-11 of 3 last night
Good point. Maybe it's one of the others. I've heard they are less 'positive' than CGPT. Still smells like AI.
I agree with you Jalen's ceiling is higher, but the question is will he ever get there? In addition, how long and at what cost is the organization willing to stay course/invest in Jalen Green?
Or if he ever gets to that point, after years of coddling by the Rockets I could see him take an offer in a heartbeat to the Lakers or Warriors, just to be in the limelight and around all the celebrities in Cali, shopping on Rodeo drive, or to NY team to model and walk the catwalks.
Question: 1. Who are the SGs that are improvements over him? Are they available? If we traded him for someone like KD (different position player) . . . . .is that strong enough to play a lesser PG? If Jalen was a guaranteed 20/5/5 guy I don't think we have a problem I recall someone mention about LeBron HE never shoots his 3 pt percentage If he is a 30% shooter . . .than means one game he is 10% then next he is 50% THIS is Jalen's issue Even who his averages are good. . . the variance is too high Rocket River
Lol no I don't think the management thinks that and I don't think they're looking to trade him as long as he puts on a decent showing for the rest of the series. However I am very disappointed in his performances thus far in the playoffs. I knew there's no way he'd be getting to the rim with 2 non-shooters on the floor for 48 minutes and a slow pace so I was prepared to live and die by a 35% jump shot. I knew he'd get hot 1-2 games. What I wasn't expecting was that his defense would be porous one game out of sheer demotivation and his decision making would be bad in multiple games in terms of passing the ball. OTOH he was nearly a 40% catch and shooter this season and had an average 3PT% on a massive volume of 3's. It's easy to see him becoming a 37%+ 3PT shooter on 8+ attempts next season and that's a huge thing to have on your squad. Improve the spacing and you'll see him up his drives/FT's to a natural level. His defense has been improving non-stop since Udoka got here. These playoffs are teaching him that it's a brutally competitive league. He'll be better from this experience.
Let's switch it a bit What team can use a Jalen Green? Need to find a team that thinks he is either a foundational peice or the missing from a championship contention Rocket River
The problem with most fans on this board is they are still stuck on this "Jalen was a #2 pick" / "Jalen was supposed to be our new Harden do it all savant" and other teams don't have that mental baggage. Jalen can be a very valuable trade asset and still not necessarily be a 'foundational piece'. He is 23 and has proven he CAN play great games against great teams, he can finish, he can shoot, he can pass, he can defend - he's definitely not consistent but he is a skilled player who could probably slot into a lot of offenses - and maybe ones where you don't NEED him to be the primary creator or the foundational piece because that teams already has a #1 - they need a #2 or a #3. ....and like the smart posters have said above - if you lose Jalen, who are you replacing him with? These team has a lot of players who have no 1v1 skills so they rely entirely on someone else to get them shots and spacing. As bad a shooter as Jalen is, his hot streaks are enough to force teams to give him gravity when he has the ball. I'm not opposed to trading Jalen but you can't just replace him with a better shooter because the net of it will be a worse team. Maybe the offense doesn't need Jalen's mediocre creation abilities after all - but then the offense needs to be a proper system of people cutting and passing because right now it's mostly based on a lot of 1v1 play with Sengun, Jalen, or Fred...and again - who is that playmaker upgrade we can actually get that we can trade for if we continue to play in that playmaker system? Can we upgrade at the PG - do we need to lose Jalen if we have let's say Maxey as our primary creator? Side note - the Maxey call out is a notable one. He's probably the closest thing out there to what we are looking for(along with Ball) but dealing for Maxey with Dork Elvis is definitely not going to be cheap
If Jalen is the missing piece for a championship team than we are getting dog **** in return and will be a worse team next year
It hasn't been used much in the playoffs, but it was amazing in the regular season. Defensively, it basically allows the Rockets to play Amen on a guard and not have Green or FVV guarding a bigger player. Offensively, Amen has to get better. In the regular season, they were tearing through teams. They would get the ball to either Amen or Sengun in the middle of the lane with guys cutting and FVV and Brooks spacing the court. Lots of quick passing with the ball never touching the floor. In the playoffs, the 2 minutes here or there I've seen it have been rough offensively. Granted, the offense has been generally rough with Amen on the court outside Game 5. It is a rock fight backcourt until Amen learns to shoot better/get better at attacking players sagging off him.
I would definitely look into Quentin Grimes this off season. I have no idea what he would cost. He showed out for Philly hut it was a small sample size. He’s definitely a better shooter, defender and is tougher than Jalen. Philly can match but they are in cap hell between max contracts for Embiid, PG and Maxey.
The answer to this question might be 1 out of every 4 games no one. The other three maybe every single shooting guard in the league including the guys on our bench.. Dudes getting out played by Brandon Podziemski..Even that random Spencer dude that comes in for warriors looks better than Jalen Green certain games. Jalen is the all time most frustrating player I've ever had to root for on the Rockets..
The Rockets don't have a lot of players who can get their own shots. I think Jalen will probably stay on the roster if the Rockets flame out and he is seen as one of the weak links. Irony is real. His trade value will be higher next trade deadline, or next summer, I bet.
