Consider that, for volume scoring bigs, their FG percentages can be lower than usual over lower option bigs. And can have some FG% fluctuations year to year. Examples: The honorable Hakeem in the 95 Finals that he destroyed Shaq, shot 48% that series. Sengun this season shot a typical Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett season. Karl Malone won an MVP shooting same Sengun FG%. Joel Embiid & Dirk Nowitzi have many seasons with worse overall FG% (in fairness, they shot more 3's, and are better free throw shooters for higher TS%). Yes Sengun DOES need to be more efficient. His playoffs average isnt good. League average FG% today is higher than old eras, making Sengun more behind even if he's at Tim Duncan rate. The point still that it doesnt necessarily have to be Shaq-like efficient to be good.
Don't get me wrong, as I've said in more recent posts - I fully believe if he just eliminated the flamingo shots that he's absolutely garbage at in favour of taking them to the block then his percentages AND scoring numbers should easily/naturally increase. He's just taking a lot of shots he's shown no ability to make, easily fixable.
It's really sad that we had people in our fanbase actually trying to speak this into existence. I've never seen a Rockets player get so rooted against by a fanbase when said player is actually good. It's mind-boggling. I really don't want to bring up the r-word but some of the **** going on here is really unbelievable. Like some people are somehow more angered by Jokic than those GSW asshats when Jokic is playing in a completely different series...
Like I said in the other thread, Draymond wouldn't last one quarter if the refs weren't afraid of Dray. He is getting to the line more than any other center and pfs not named Giannis. *just don't ask me about the FT%
Dude is hustling on D. Playing as hard as he can. Offensively he has to be more efficient, or at minimum what he was the past 3 seasons. Experience, conditioning and repetition should cure it. He has shown that he has nice shooting touch. Just has to keep improving
Always funny seeing people out themselves as having no idea what they're watching on the defensive end, when you see comments during the game about how he's terrible defensively.
He just needs to go back to the shot selection he had before. More post play, less shot puts and flamingos. Play to his strengths and he's nigh unstoppable for most people who have to guard him, it's just when he tries to live near the FT line that's pulling his efficiency right down.
Nah that's just an unfortunate thing where he can't shoot well from that distance regardless of whether it's a FT or if it's in the game. It is what it is, I don't care as much about the missed FT's if his shot puts disappear and he's just making more. He'll still foul people out regardless of whether he hits them, and it's usually going to be the team's best rim protector he's putting in foul trouble, which is sound tactics. Let's be honest, if he'd have gone to his stronger game and gone at Dray more he may have fouled his b**** ass out too.
That Sengun court vision was on full display early tonight, when he didn't have to specifically look for the SG as his first, second and third objective.
Sengun continues to dominate, 4 out of 5 good games in this series. We would already be fishing without Sengun.
