Important series. Best team Houston will play over the next couple weeks and the pitching matchups seem to favor Detroit. If Houston can win this series they could come out of it leading the division and be in position to build a lead over the next 3-4 series.
It worked out Biblically. Let's see about now.... - Peña needs to bat #2 - Dezenzo and Chas need to play 2 games - Hopefully Yordan, Ronel, and Diaz have turned the corner - Walker... who knows .
We would have to sweep them to come out of it leading the division. Even then, we'd need the Mariners to lose one of the two games they play against the Angels.
Lineup I'd like to see: Altuve LF Alvarez DH Pena SS Paredes 3B Walker 1B Diaz C Smith RF Rodgers 2B Meyers CF
i know pena has improved a lot this year but he should be no where at 3rd or 4th in the lineup. you could argue he has the speed to beat out GiDP but he doesn't strike fear into pitcher compare to yordan and he's not as patience compare to paredes.
at some point I think the leash on Smith will need to get tighter especially if Chas and Dezenzo continue to do well. I believe Smith is part of the future but he hasn’t exactly mashed out of the gate and some time in the minors could be of great benefit. Not saying that time is now but they should really be evaluating all of those outfield options carefully and put the best performing guys on the field so by June the offense should hopefully be “set.”
Cam Smith has an OPS of almost .700 .... the Astros as a team have an OPS of .650. I don't think Cam Smith has been the problem at all. I don't have any issue giving Dezenzo and Chas more at bats - but Chas and Dezenzo can get those at bats at the expense of Dubon and Jake Meyers. I believe that Dezenzo should also spell Walker sometimes as well.
*Looks at Astros line up - looks at the Cardinals statistics.... sees Arenado and Donovan and Nootbar's numbers.... gets pissed and watches videos of cats attacking their owners*
Move Diaz down. He has shown anything this season and he doesn't have the track record to warrant being cemented in the middle of the lineup.
