Thanks for the stats. I wanted to see how he stacks up against the top tier SGs. The stats provided definitely give some insight.
in addition to that this season he aint even considered an all-star, he was not the one voted to be an all-star
Yeah the only real difference is the years. Sengun's avg annual value is 37 mil and Jalen's is 35 mil. And anyways, as expected Sengun has been better both during the season and in the playoffs so far.
They don’t watch games, don’t listen to post game interviews from coaches - they check boxscore and if he didn’t score 25+ then he’s the blame for the loss You would think Ime would try and get the player who when he scores more than 30+ the most FGA but nope we stuck with FVV averaging more FGA than our SG and less assist as well with more minutes played
The AAV gap is mainly because of the 5th year player option which has basically a 0% chance of being actually picked up unless he’s basically done as a good player.
what are you refuting? Is it really a question sengun outside of his ass last game has been at least conssitent? He was our lone offense in game 1
Their gamble paid off. We didn't make them pay with that, especially with the paint shots." + FREETHR0WS especially
I was just going to post how the Warriors were blitzing Jalen Green to get the ball out of his hands. Passes to Sengun near FT line, to be the hub of the offense from there. As I mentioned after game 2, Sengun hit that one handed mid range shot and Sengun shot 61% (FG%).......but it plays into the Rockets warriors hands as Sengun might hit 33% in the next game or games. Sengun was 39% (FG%) after game 3. Jalen Green was worse but had to force shots vs double to triple coverage. Two players on Green, puts Sengun 4 on 3......Rockets success depends on Sengun making his Shot put shot over the defenders in the paint. Not contested that heavily. Non watchers of the game, box score viewers are not seeing the full picture. Game two Rockets and Jalen took advantage of Q Post playing deep drop coverage. Warriors has Post hedge the Pick-N-Roll.....defend better. Jalen wasn't able to do the same things in game 3 as he did in Game 2.
I'm happy to accept the consensus narrative now. Jalen's not the star player. Great, let's start blaming the actual star players for the losses rather than the inconsistent role player. You can't expect somebody to carry the game if they're not the person in that role or capable of it. It's like b****ing about PJ Tucker that the Warriors beat us last time.
Sengun is shielded from criticism…he’s the All-Star and “franchise player” yet gets nowhere near the level of scrutiny those titles should warrant When is he gonna put the team on his back and have a “Jalen game 2” performance? Shouldn’t your “All-Star” and “franchise player” consistently carry the team?
Exactly how I see it tbh. I'm happy to accept that Jalen hasn't been the star, so to keep putting star expectations on him is wrong. We should really be questioning our actual star player, and why he's only managed to put up a fraction of superstar huge scoring games compared to a microwave roleplayer. Like it's not even close: Jalen 40+ pts: 9 Jalen 30+ pts: 42 Sengun 40+ pts: 1 Sengun 30+ pts: 16 It's never going to be that successful if your "alpha dog" superstar struggles to put up even a fraction of the number of big games as your nail painting, inconsistent role player.
All things considered, Sengun has performed way better than Jalen so far in the playoffs. He didn't play well game 3, sure, but game 1 he had 26/9 and in game 2 had 17/16/7. Even in game 3 he still had 15/11/4 but on not that great %. Still better than Jalens output though (9/6/5) and a better +/- too. So Senguns bad game is still relatively decent aside from the missed free throws. Had a bunny or two extra gone in but the Rockets still lost (very likely), Sengun would have been up to 20 points with those 11 rebounds and 4 assists. He's doing his thing for the most part.
Yeah but it's not that simple. Sengun was benched for Bruno Fernando based on favoritism. Where is he at now? Also should be easier for a shooting guard to have more points than a center. That is typically the case. Jalen is out hitting 3s while Sengun is working in the post. If a star shooting guard and star center are on the same team, the star guard will typically have more points. One of the few exceptions was Kobe and Shaq but even then Kobe eventually outscored Shaq by 02-03.
One's the star player, the other is "6th man at best." Go show me all the times the Nuggets 6th man put up more superstar performances than Joker? Let's make it less OTT, how many times did our starting SG put up more superstar games than Dream? If we're accepting Alpi as the star and Jalen as a "decent starter, more like a microwave scorer off the bench" then only one of them is massively underperforming for their talent level. The other is actually playing well above his expectations with more superstar performances than a lot of the players his age considered bonafide 1A franchise players...
This is pure box score watching. Was Sengun wing face guarded 90 ft away from the rim? +/- comparison when Green played 6 more minutes than Alpi? There was a distinct defensive gameplan by the warriors to let anyone else have the ball besides Jalen. Jalen isn't shy about putting up shots. So when he only puts up 11 fga you should have the basic curiosity to ask yourself why.
