Nick should have re-signed George Fant. George played well for us in 23' after Tytus Howard was injured. Blake wasn't ready and we paid the price, especially CJ.

Everyone is drinking the kool-aid that somehow our offensive line is better bcz we changed schemes even though we have less talent on the oline this year than we did last year. Were expecting below/average talent to play pro bowl level.

I'll pray for the best but if you're not worried about the oline then you're living in lala land

I wanted to go OL, OL, WR, WR, with our first 4 picks. Nick had other plans. I hope those plans work great.

But let me ask you a question. What might you be saying after the season IF our IOL again performs poorly? Will you consider the possibility that we actually do need better talent?

I was squarely in this camp earlier. But there is a reason Seattle let him go and spent some $$$$ acquiring new talent along OL

I think Nick is betting his job on the new OC and OL coach as well as Jarrett, Juice, and the new guys he brought in at guard as well as the ability of Tay and Blake to successfully play RT so that Tytus Howard can fill a spot along the IOL. If the OL terrible again then I'm inclined to believe that Nick might not be our GM this time next year.

George played well for us in 23'. Nick should have kept him around.

Tytus was supposed to be the RT. That’s why Fant didn’t re-sign. He wanted to start. I don’t disagree about bringing him back. Saying Blake wasn’t ready is not really saying much. He wasn’t the starter coming into the season.
I haven’t seen anyone say our o line is better but we are definitely hoping it can be with a different scheme and an OC that is going to recognize our weaknesses and not just expect the line to figure it out.

What makes you think Blake is ready at RT?! He got destroyed during the post season. Juice has never shown any consistency. Jarrett has no idea how to audible or change tactics mid game. Tay was average/below average last year.

Again we're putting all of our hopes on the new OC while we have less talent this year than last year

This has to mean that Howard is going to be at guard right.
Why would you sign Robinson, draft a tackle early last year and again this year and leave Howard at tackle? Makes zero sense.
So, if you look at Howard as your new guard, it makes a bit more sense. Then you have Tomlinson and Scruggs to try and work things out for the other guard. Patterson or Scruggs at center, depending.

All of Blake, Juice, and Jarrett are young and it stands to reason that they could all improve organically as they gain experience.

Will they all improve? I don’t know, we will see. I sure hope so.

    It’s not unreasonable.

Or the flip side of that is none of them improve and they get worst over time. What's the plan then? We overpay mid-season for a oline when the entire league knows we're desperate?

It's saying that Blake wasn't ready to play OT in the NFL. Hopefully Blake will take a massive step forward this season as the majority of rookie linemen do.

We signed like 4 stopgap dudes. There will be competition all along the line for starting spots, including a new 2nd-round pick.

We're hoping that Blake improves drastically. And while I hope the same for Juice and Jarrett, I think they're depth pieces rather than starting material. I hope they and Nick prove me mistaken.

Even if scheme was the main issue, that would not stop them from making personnel changes (particularly, getting rid of Tunsil).

That’s fair. Only time will tell.

I hope they prove you mistaken too.

I don't think I said that, brother. I hope Blake will be improved in his second year as are most linemen. I'm also hopeful that new coaching and new scheme will help all of the OL to be better.

None of the 4 people we signed are above average players. Most of them had a PFF rating of below 65 which makes them average at best
