I like Jayden Higgins but I'm disappointed in not getting the best available OL as I feel there are other quality receivers available later tonight. But that's water under the bridge. Welcome to Houston Jayden!
I don’t know those 2 guards, but if there is a good veteran guard available in FA or with trade, Nick should consider it. I think they probably tried to trade up for Booker, but were rebuffed. I think we have tackle adequately covered.
How do you know? Minnesota gave up a really good defensive back for our worst Offensive Lineman last year. We were playing rookies and 2nd year guys with a sh*t OC. I’m just guessing, but I’m thinking our line is much improved this year just from the coaching and philosophy change. If nothing else we should see an improved running game and less false starts by our Left Tackle.
Best I can figure (1) has mainly been a RG only & (2) maybe had unreal expectations on compensation. We will see on Monday afternoon!
On Monday at 4 PM EST, it would be dope to sign some combo of: IOL Brandon Scherff or IOL Will Hernandez OT Joseph Noteboom LB Isaiah Simmons (would be a luxury) SAF Justin Simmons (not so much anymore) Bring these folx home IDL Khalil Davis CB Shaquill Griffin (yes, please) TE Dalton Keene
If there is an opposing player on offense the Texans want to get hurt, signing Isaiah Simmons might make sense. I watched him at Clemson and his athleticism is all-time (no joke), but the nuances of playing defense in the NFL escape him. What he does best at the NFL level is lay (sometimes illegal) hits on guys to knock them out of games.
Signing Will Hernandez would make this a great off-season in my opinion, but I don’t think we make another semi-costly move.
Draft: Round 2(34) - Jayden Higgins, WR - Iowa State Round 2(48) - Aireontae Ersery, OT - Minnesota Round 3(79) - Jaylin Noel, WR - Iowa State Round 3(97) - Jaylin Smith, CB - USC Round 4(116) - Woody Marks, RB - USC Round 6(187) - Jaylen Reed, CB - Penn State Round 6(197) - Graham Mertz, QB - Florida Round 7(224) - Kyonte Hamilton, DT - Rutgers Round 7(255) - Luke Lachey, TE - Iowa UDFA Alijah Huzzie, DB Austin Brinkman, LS Daniel Jackson, WR KC Ossai, LB Eli Cox, C The last four draft picks and UDFAs are all likely headed for the practice squad, methinks.
Did anyone else notice that every single draft pick and UDFA had an "a" in their name - except Eli Cox, I mean vowels are everywhere, but I was looking at that while thinking about all the Jays we drafted.
Do you think Higgins and Noel will be better receivers than Diggs and Dell? It would be awesome if they are, especially if Dell is able to come back full strength next year.
