Sengun All stats and gravity says Alpi is better than Yao at their age. And this is unbelievable. Who would have imagined Rockets #16 draft/trade center became its second best center in Rockets history??
Yao most overrated player ever. Had 3 glaring weaknesses to his game and could easily be taken out. 1 just front him with anyone and he couldn't get the ball. The amount of time she'd get shut down by guys like Eduardo Najera is crazy. In the playoffs he'd go 7-7 in first half then in second half they would front him and he'd have 0 points. 2. He was a terrible pick and roll defender. If he played in todays league he'd be BBQ chicken...3 he could never stay healthy.
There are moments when you have to rethink the whole picture and with Alperen Sengun, I think we’re at that point. The idea of him as the franchise cornerstone feels meaningfully off. Right now, he looks more like a budget version of Domantas Sabonis, a skilled and sure pivot yet undersized, soft around the edges and not the kind of big you can confidently build around in today’s game. Add to that the fact that he doesn’t have Sabonis’s shooting touch yet and you start to see the deep cracks here. And when your top piece Amen Thompson is also struggling with shooting? You’re not just making one bad bet. You’re doubling down on a flaw. And that's how NBA teams get stuck.
I don’t believe so. Sengun will have better games, and I'll get laughed at for saying that, but at the end of the day, this is about pursuing championships, plural. I just don’t see him with his strengths and weaknesses leading the way as the main guy.
Apli is 22 years old. His is 3-5 years away from his prime. Yes he needs to be more consistent but he is doing pretty good. He is MUCH bettter than Sabonis at the same age.
He sucked last night, once again he missed a ton of extremely makeable shots. He's our top guy and we need him to be better. He should be torching this GS frontline and forcing them to double.
You were nowhere to be seen when he was elite the first two games. He’s a far better athlete than Sabonis, far better at the same age and miles better defender. He has to be better than last night because this team goes as he goes. Same with Jalen and Amen. He is, as you put it, our top piece. Amen might get there one day, but he has been pretty bad these first 3 games. We need Alp, Jalen and Amen to be elite.
I think in totality what he's saying is we need more shooting. I don't think it's stupid. I've been saying Ime needs to take Amen out of the starting lineup and replace him with Jabari. Also, he needs to bring in Holiday
I think amen should stay in the starting lineup but Fred needs to be replaced with Jabari. If we gave amen everyone of Fred's shots there is just no way he could be a worse shooter. Fred is having an all time atrocious series and plays more minutes than anyone. When will Ime embrace the youth movement. If we lose with the young guys oh well if we lose with the old guys we didn't gain anything from this. Fred is shooting 26% from field and 20% from three...... and people wonder why our offense sucks.
No disagreement there. We absolutely need shooting. Alp has to improve there, Jalen has to, Amen has to. Most importantly we need shooters around them.
Clown post. Embarrassing that you wrote this about a Rox great and HOFer and embarrassing that it got 2 likes. Be better.
Which of those 3 statements is untrue? Dude try hard and was like by fans but was he really that good. He was outplayed by everyone in playoffs and that's if he ever suited up. Being loved doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws
i'm not going to lie, i'm pretty concerned about us building around Sengun. I was less concerned about his future prospects of being a great player when we were featuring him as a playmaker, but as a score-first option, his inefficiency is costing us dearly. this obviously is incredibly compounded playing next to Fred (37% on OPEN 3s) and Amen (we all know his shooting issues...). defensively he is what he is. i don't think his lateral quickness is going to improve as he gets older. definitely some yellow flags being waved around and if the right deal presents itself then you'd be foolish not to think about it. it's like if you do decide to go the Sengun route, you're basically banking him on becoming Hakeem-like where you're surrounding him with 3 point shooters. Do we think Sengun has Hakeem type potential?
