He did move off ball, the problem is we only have 2 ball handlers. He got 1 catch and shoot 3 tonight which tbf he missed. Everything else was self created. Im not making excuses btw. I dont think he played amazing because he was mostly taken out of the game by gsw design. He wasnt bad tho. Im effing irritated because hes catching the blame when he made the correct play/read all nigjt long and trusted his team (who let him down all night). He forced 2 maybe 3 actions all night and they were his worst possessions. Otherwise he made the smart play and got off the ball. He rebounded well, passed well, defended well he just wasnt allowed (by design) to get into rhythm.
I don't think Jalen is to blame, the entire team sucked. Sengun stunk, Amen stunk, Jalen stunk, our FT shooting stunk, IMe stunk....the biggest issue I think is Ime is not building an offensive system to take advantage of our players strengths and minimizing our weaknesses. Jalen is not an ISO player - he is a catch and shoot guy and occassional ISO player. Sengun needs to be on the low block Amen if they aren't going to guard him needs to be replaced by Jabari Ime is getting his ass handed to him by Kerr who is playing a G league center in Post, and some guys that stink on D but somehow can play good enough to stop our guys. DD
Jalen got by "ONE" guy near everytime tonight, just to run into a crowd and make a pass. But you know, iNcOnSiStEnT
They blitzed the **** out of Jalen tonight. Just once I'd like to see a lineup of Fred, Jalen, Dillon, Bari, and Tari. But instead we have Amen and double-bigs out there.
The only game the Rockets have won is when Jalen has showed up. Now I wasn’t expecting the same performance as last game but he needed to not score less than 10 points again, and here we are. He has to show up in the next 3 out of the 4 games left for the Rockets to win this series. Very low probability.
Just a disappointing performance. He was making slow decisions again. Yes it made him the safest player with the ball but we needed either more assists or more makes from him. It's just not logical for him to drive, he's making the right decision there. If he gets by his man the middle of the paint is clogged and the Warriors have no reason to cheat off the corner shooters. The coach doesn't want him to go at the heart of the defense. The only move is to get a jumper quicker even if contested and he didn't try that enough. Frankly on a balanced team, if Jalen wins us 1-2 games in a playoff series he's done his job. He's halfway there. Sengun, Jabari and Amen are playing in the interior where we're intentionally bigger and they have to come up with a couple of 30-point games between them. That's what it takes to lead a playoff win. If Jalen is being guarded like that and being respected at the 3pt line and he's the best passer on the night, the big guys should have had a field day against Looney and Post. I want to look at the silver lining and say these are the punches in the face he needs for his next level of growth, but we're in the playoffs against the Warriors without Butler. He should have been more aggressive with his jumper. I felt like he played it too safe, slowed the pace too often and was yapping too much when he should have kept his energy channeled. I'm glad Draymond pissed him off after the game. Now make sure you show up to the next game with nails painted and prove him wrong.
Hey @leroy It's almost like the past four years has taught you nothing. Who could've possibly foreseen Jalen was going to make you look like an even bigger fool than you made yourself. Oh, wait. Knowledgeable people did.
This is hilarious. Funny, I seem to recall the Rockets doing a lot more intensive defense on Steph Curry, for vastly different results.
Oh man, he's being guarded...oh the horror. How can somebody be expected to function with a person defending him. Plenty of blame to go around last night. The coaching staff knows Jalen isn't a dependable scorer and will frequently vanish. Too late in the game to actually do anything this season, but if we have this same issue next season it's on them and Stone. Any team "needing" him to be the top scorer will fall short because he simply doesn't have the game to be that dude.
He can’t get more assist if Amen and Alpi miss 31 shots in the paint …come on now you saying our SG needs more assist… how many did our freaking PG have? JG played exactly how Ime wanted him to play with how GS schemed him…. He tried to drive and get some calls at the rim and got none… He’s going to have to develop a midrange game / floater …as much as folks hate it.. against certain defenses it’s the best available shot
Nah I think he's better than what he showed. No amount of reasons can convince me it's ok to have 9 points on 11 shots with 5 assists to 1 TO. I mentioned he was the best passer but the gap should have been wider.
I really feel bad for Cam. The way Ime is treating him is unfair. He should have played a bunch yesterday, especially with Brooks in foul trouble as to not extend Tari and Amen too much. Cam might have mimicked Jalens scoring from Game 2 for all we know, and that would have been enough last night IMO. He's certainly capable. This is why another athletic shooting guard who can score at all levels being put into the game alongside Jalen might have been beneficial...
all the people trying to compare Jalen to Curry are being incredibly disingenuous. he's not going to be consistently capable running off screens and hitting jumpers. that's not his game. sometimes he can do it (game 2) but asking for it every night you're going to be disappointed. think about Jalen's best attributes as a player and then ask yourself if playing next to : Fred 37% on OPEN 3's Amen 27% on OPEN 3's Sengun 23% on OPEN 3's is going to materialize into sustainable and successful offensive outings.
