Yeah we're really asking too much of him to always take them cold. But I think he does shoot himself in the foot trust-wise because sometimes he hits a couple and then starts thinking he's Jayson Tatum. I feel like if he stays in sniper mode, he can generate some trust there. We'll get there with Jabari I know it, I'm just nitpicking at whether he could have solidified himself sooner as a shooter.
Don't know if posted. The last part of the video posted by this thread's OP shows how good Jabari is in his post up game. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/video-how-the-rockets-are-exposing-golden-state’s-defense.326154/ Yet, he is too often parked in the corner. Jabari is the PF version of Reed Sheppard. When used in the right way of their respective positions (PF, PG), they can be very effective. But they are often rendered just spotting up in the corner.
I have a feeling Stone is going to offer Jabari an extension this summer and Jabari is going to tell him to get ****ed.
He should start next game. I like him against Post or any Warrior defender. I also like Amen Green starting combo.
Yes he would. Imagine hm on Lakers or even Warriors or Dallas. He could help any of those teams out with timely threes, mid range j's and defensive plays.
He's restricted so its up to the Rockets but I doubt he's going to want to play here for long. The Rockets clearly put Jalen, Alpi, and Amen oover him and I'm really not sure its deserved. I feel like there was never a point in Jabari's career where the Rockets decided as a team, this guy can be a go to scorer. Just scheme him open or find him on mismatches. He's a big that shoots, it really isn't that hard to get these kind of players open shots. He could be a slimmer Sheed and we're just sitting over here playing him 20 mins per game despite him hitting timely shot after timely shot, hustling his ass off on defense, and always playing within the team, never complaining despite being benched because of injury.
We are a better defense with Amen We are a better offense with Jabari Fred is the antichrist Give me both in the starting lineup without Fred.
Jabari played within his limits on offense in game 3, shot the ball well and earned a start in game 4 in place of Amen.
The issue is that only Amen seems to be able to stay with Steph through pick and roll and screens. Neither Brooks nor Jabari are able to keep up so we likely need Amen. Even then I would like to see Jabari get more touches on post up. Jabari, Alpi and Green should be taking large set of shots.
I didn't see Amen guarding Curry very much this game. It's mostly Fred, sometimes Brooks. I was thinking, why is Amen not on their best offensive players, especially now that Butler is not playing? That's his specialty, right?
Basically this. Bari should start over Fred. Jalen plays point. PnR with Sengun, it’s up to Goon to score, hit Brooks or Bari for 3, or throw the lob to Amen. That should be our base offense. We should rebound better and play faster with this lineup
Udoka would never sit Fred as long as he could stand on two feet. I have not been excessively criticizing Fred like many here because I understand that he brings stability to both defense and offense. But I've had enough last night. In a sequence towards the end but we were still in striking distance if we scored quickly, Fred dribbled inside the 3pt arc, didn't know what to do, the clock was running down, tried a desperate pass to someone coming back along the sideline, and lost the ball. That's the time when I thought Fred should definitely not on the floor. If he can't create decent offense in a half court situation in a playoffs game, then he's not doing what we need him to do.
I feel like i'm back to - "We dont adjust to them - they adjust to us!" - MDA what is with these megalomaniac coaches and their stubbornness? obviously the notion of 'taking what the defense gives you' and devising a gameplan to fit your personnel are alien thoughts... smh
Rocket River I like Jalen too but . . .. I definitely think JaBari will be special If he put on weight and get aggressive
There’s a version of him that is in that LaMarcus Aldridge / Rasheed Wallace mold. But we need a real play maker to actually look for him to unlock that.
