Texans have plenty of draft capital to move back into the 4th and get one of the best remaining DT, RB or OG. Mbow Farmer Robinson I like Pegues maybe in 5th Skattebo Tuten Sampson
I think we should sign Shedeur if he goes undrafted. I'm not sold on Brown or Henderson at QB.... Can boost some ticket sales out at the TDECU...
That makes sense except for the fact that someone posted a Caserio tweet that it doesn't matter which position their picks play, which kind of crosses out that theory.
I'm still worried about the offensive line, but I suppose the optimistic viewpoint could be this: Historically, Caserio has sucked at drafting offensive line talent. I think it's just something he (or his scouting department) is not as adept at identifying compared to some of the other skill positions. Is it wishful thinking that scheme and coaching will fix what was such a mess last season (or possibly getting rid of bad attitudes if some of the Tunsil reports are to be believed)? Yeah, probably. But regardless of what projections there were, the track record of drafting DBs and WRs to date for Caserio has me not second guessing any of those he took in this draft. Realistically, perhaps we shouldn't have been hoping that Caserio drafts a bunch of OL because he kind of sucks at it. It does make me wonder if perhaps the front office has given up on Metchie or Hutchison ever having a signficant impact. They've certainly seen enough of those guys to make an assessment.
You just made my point of why we shouldn't have traded up 5 spots to begin with, when those guys were available and we still would have had our 147th pick, if we have to give up picks to trade back up. They must have wanted Jaylin Smith really bad. I hope he's the stud they think he is. I don't know squat, but any help in our secondary is fine with me too. We need depth everywhere with our injury riddled team.
Well, wouldn't our new offensive coach have any expertise and input in picking offensive linemen? As for receivers with Diggs gone and Dell a huge question mark for the future I'm fine with the guys we got. Them being teammates makes it pretty cool. They can encourage each other and already have that team brotherhood going for them.
Hopefully he does but does he? They’re deeper at tackle than they are at guard. Robinson Howard Fisher Brown Ersery Tomlinson Ingram Scruggs (Ability for Howard to slide inside) Two castoffs from two other poor OL … “we fixed it”
The last part, I think that's how it's going to play out too. And Ersery being the swing tackle on emergency duties.
Id like to see the Texans add another OL today (Mbow, Cameron Wms, Jack Nelson, & Logan Brown all decent options). There are several change of pace RBs out there (Blue and Br. Smith are at the top of my list). I think there is value at WR even though they've selected 2 (I'm interested in D'Onte Thornton). They need to add at least one DL (I'd like 2 of Farmer, Robinson, Pegues, Walker or Phillips) and a LB (several SEC guys that should interest Demeco). So far I'm content with Casserio. The WR room is filled out and the Texans have depth at OT. If Ersery and Howard play at OG this year the line should be improved whilst developing some good prospects moving forward in good contracts.
The fact the Georgia C and other G hasn’t gone yet -means the Texans are doing right by not drafting them yet… Draft a bunch of OL with remaining picks and maybe a K and let them all fight it out in camp
PFF ranked us as the 22nd offensive line, not 32nd. So, improving into the mid-teens would be an improvement, and ranked higher than 16 would be above average. These subjective opinions are not based on reality. Our line was not good and was below average in 2024. But to say Caserio should be fired if it does not improve because he did not draft 2 OL in the first 3 rounds is a ludicrous statement.
I think you can find good center and guards later in the draft as well. Would like a legit center. Majors for UT still there.
Seems like a pretty simple concept to me. Caserio’s draft records gets the benefit of the doubt here but with the OL issues, think it’s reasonable to question drafting skill positions with 3 of our first 4 picks.
