Yeah IMO Lakers, OKC, Rockets and Spurs are the teams in the best position right now, the rest have a large tax bill looming or have a franchise star stuck on a bad team. We just need to be patient instead of go for any low hanging fruit available. Even Jokic is crashing out as they just got demolished by 30.
I think the window started closing the minute the Lakers got Doncic. We have a 2-3 year window after Lebron retires before the league rigs it for the Lakers. It would be foolish to just stay status quo this off-season. It doesn't need to be a blockbuster trade, but upgrading from FVV and adding more shooting depth needs to be the mantra. Some of my targets: Naz (hard get) John Collins Sexton Coby White (hard get) Herro Derrick White (hard get) Mike Conley Keon Ellis Max Christie CJ McCollum
I tend to agree with this notion of playing to our window of being able to have the longest period possible for contention. I absolutely think Stone should have some serious talks with the Bucks, and for sure make an offer. However I would be hesitant to throw Sengun in there right away, and I do think this team is going to need those draft picks we have to either restock young talent we lose in free agency in the next couple years (guys will get crazy offers). The Rockets don't have as much to give away as some might not think, and I think OKC is poised to beat pretty much any offer AND not have to give up much of their existing talent core. So you will probably have to give up alot to get Giannis, and if you don't win it all with Giannis in the next couple seasons, you really will regret depleting all of your assets. We just need to see what the market is, and what the other offers are. Stone does need to be involved, and have an offer on the table, but you really have to be smart. The Rockets need every asset they have (minus maybe Cam Whitmore who I love, but probably could be moved given his need for minutes, and lack of a role going into next year.)
Nah, Doncic is like Harden as neither will ever win a ring. Unless it's limited minutes off the bench in their final year.
Giannis just casually dropping 34, 18, and 7 on 70% shooting and they still end up losing by 8. If they get swept in the first round and Giannis feels like he played well in the series, all bets are off, he may demand a trade and they may oblige.
No to KD, yes to Ty Jerome. Unless KD can be had for 1 1st and FVV. No Cam, no Tari, no Jabari, no Sheppard. No Core 7. Then get Ty to replace FVV
Not true and even it was, Giannis is one of the 5 best players in the nba. You can see Thompson getting better at getting to his spot. Giannis is great at getting the rim, playing with force and now he has the mid range. Giannis ain't missing layups like we see right now. Dillon is a floor spacer, Reed is supposed to be one also. Bottom line is Giannis is a force and a terror in transition also. Yes Giannis is is going on 31 but he's still in his prime. He's also a great defender and shot blocker which is something they don't really have. You can create space with movement, but Giannis commands a double which is something they don't have.
Yet there are people talking like he's not a top 5 player in the nba. He avg 30 11 and 6 this year on a team in turmoil.
Blake Griffin couldn’t sniff Giannis’ jock even during his best years. NBA champion (2021) NBA Finals MVP (2021) 2× NBA Most Valuable Player (2019, 2020) NBA Cup champion (2024) NBA Cup MVP (2024) 9× NBA All-Star (2017–2025) NBA All-Star Game MVP (2021) 6× All-NBA First Team (2019–2024) 2× All-NBA Second Team (2017, 2018) NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2020) 4× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2019–2022) NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2017) NBA Most Improved Player (2017) NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2014) NBA 75th Anniversary Team FIBA EuroBasket Top Scorer (2022) Euroscar Player of the Year (2018)
Despite being called solely reliant on athleticism with no skills, there's been no drop to Giannis's game. He shot his 2nd highest career FG%. The efficiency getting the ball in the rim is still peak Perhaps he has ability to just get it done with the tools he has, the tools of length and strength that few players have, and isnt concerned with how aesthetic its supposed to look. Amen sure looks nicer doing it, but probably cant be as devastatingly effective as a Giannis can
Amen can look at Giannis and mimic some of his game especially the mid range part. Too many people equate shooting with 3s when actually 3pt shooting is a range thing. Nobody ever talks floor spacing with SGA despite his greatest asset is his mid range. Giannis have become deadly in that mid range. Not to mention he draw fouls which is another positive
He is a wonderful individual player but his bully style ain't 100% team orientated. It is a style without shooting and limited playmaking.
