Shooting percentage tells Cam is a better scorer than Jalen. Cam FG 45% Jalen FG 42% It's so horrible that Ime never play Cam.
Honestly, i think Jalen just absolutely stinks but it's CLEAR Ime needs to give him screens to open him up rather than counting on him breaking ankles. This video is consistenly showing Ime's game plan was to allow him to attack Curry or whoever 1 on 1 while our personnel clears to the other side. JALEN isn't ANT he can't do that against a top defence, he needs SCREENS. if this continues next game WE ARE FKED.
In retrospect, that whole snit about Jalen being ticked off at Cade for being the #1 pick made him look like an immature jerk IMO. Now, it makes Jalen look like a little you-know-what. Game 2 tomorrow. Hopefully he can shake it off and make a positive contribution towards a win.
Spacing alone doesn't cover all of his warts. I think Jalen is a solid NBA player like Jordan Clarkson or Jamal Crawford, but I am not sure that he is going to be the lead guard needed on an elite team. Kevin Durant would have helped the Rockets and Green in game one - but I am not even advocating to get him, he is not far from 40 years old.
Cade was and is a better prospect. I had concerns about Cade being a top 5 type player because of explosion. However, he is learning to off set that with his size and learning to be a consistent shooter. They are just very different players - Cade is headed towards being a hub that a team can run it's offense through and Green is more of a scoring guard. We can call Green immature or whatever for how he handled it at the time - but if Green were scoring 30 points a night everyone would be saying he has that Kobe/Jerry West competitiveness. People have had very unfair expectations for Green because of what his coach in the G League said, because he was the first high lottery pick for the Rockets in awhile and because he was given so much freedom early. At some point we may just need to accept that he is a good player but not "the guy".
Remember when people said it’s no biggie that Jalen didn’t really set an example after we clinched and he couldn’t separate himself from the pack? Yeah….that was a sign of things to come.
Bingo. Jalen has the tools to be in the NBA for a long time, but he's no better than a 6th man on a truly great team. You're also 100% right on the Durant thing. Anyone who's played pickup ball knows what it's like if you have a true alpha on your team. You yourself play with much more confidence knowing that you've got Him on your team.
Just be glad Presti traded us another all-star. Imagine this rebuild if we did not have Sengun, we'd be royally ****ed. Jalen and Jabari are both role players at best. Reed is undersized and has to turn into a CP3 level player to stay on the court. As far as I'm concerned, no one is untouchable this off-season except Amen and Sengun. I hope Stone gives Amen the extension early. Give him something similar to Green where we can still move him if he never improves his shooting.
Not even close unless he plays a WHOLE LOT better than game 1, where it should have been closer to 20 mins.
He’ll jsut be getting into a better rhythm. Jalen is a rhythm player. This was his first time layering with the team in almost two weeks for a real game since they clinched the 2 seed. Me and a few players complained about Ime testing the players so man games without playing. He wa the only coach to do that.
I'm not sure he is a good player though. He's an inefficient scoring guard with questionable defensive motor, a loose handle and average playmaking that simultaneously needs the ball in his hands to be effective. That is a disastrous combination. He's the Anthony Edwards archetype with none of the strengths Antman has. Even his own stans at this point are constantly clamoring that he doesn't have enough space to operate....implying that our better players need to make way or become better shooters so that Jalen can function better. I said it in another thread....his skillset is redundant with Amen's. They are both non-shooters that need the ball in their hands to be effective (though Amen has been able to play in the dunkers spot as well). One is a second year two way phenom on his way to superstardom. The other is an inefficient fourth year microwave shooting guard that seems to pay a lot of attention to what people say about him on social media and is good for an outstanding game against bottom feeders.
