Curious if anyone has done a stats search to see how Green and FVV perform after their worst performances. I know they are both streaky with high variance, but I can't recall how quickly it can bounce from one to the other.
I’d be surprised if Jalen or Fred played any worse (I don’t know if it’s possible) but the Rockets always make history in terrible ways against the Warriors.
I WANT the Rockets to win so bad... but to fulfill a want you gotta address the NEEDs. I just don't see us as a mature enough group to address those NEEDs. The only chance I can see is if we continuously improve from game to game in this series. We know game 2 is a must win psychologically. The way we win game 2 has to prepare us to win game 3 or 4 or even both. This series is a chess match and the Warriors mentally are in a place where they are saying they have us figured out. The way we looked out there makes me feel they know us better than we even know ourselves. We gotta grow up fast in the mental and execution department or we will be out.
Stone needs to man up and trade FVV in the offseason. Can't play FVV 42 mins if he isn't on the roster. Ty Jerome would be sick. But i'm just throwing out a name
I don't think Ime is going to change any of his lineups next game. So this is what i'd like to see: 1. More screens for JG to get him open, the offense was stagnant yesterday. There was a lot of confusion of what they were doing, I saw a couple of times JG with the ball in his hands and yelling/waiting for players to set screens that never happened. 2. STOP trying the ISO of Jalen against Curry, it was obvious Ime was trying to allow Jalen to attack Curry by clearing out one side. Jalen could not shake curry at all, they tried it again and again and it wasn't working. For the life of me I can't understand why Jalen can't even shake Curry 1 on 1, but it is what it is. 3. Double big lineup was working, have some variations where Jabari is in the lineup longer, we need more shooters 4. DONT change the lineup when they are on a roll. We were catching GSW from end of 3rd quarter to the 4th and Ime decides to put Jalen back in when it was clear Jabari was in the zone??? like WTF how do you justify putting our worst offensive player in, it was like Ime was gambling that Jalen would start playing better. 5. Give Jabari more playing time, even Tari deserves more time.
I like that big frontline of Adams, Sengun, and Bari but think they should let Cam run the wing with Amen.
Yeah i agree with Bari. Get him to his spots. Warriors have no one that can match up with him. But Rockets offense stalled after 1st quarter. They kept going back to how they played earlier in the season with a predictable 2 man fred Sengun game with no movement. Need Amen and Jalen to dribble drive from different angles on the wing or further out 28-30 ft screen. Keep attacking. Offense was bunched up. 2 bigs in paint or 2 guys cutting at the same time. When green or amen drives they always load up leaving weak side corners open. Need bari in this spot to bomb them. Too much attention on butler. Our guys are good enough to guard him 1-1. We kept cheating baseline giving him passing outlets. Stay disciplined just tough 1-1 defense and hard switches. Do what we did 3rd and 4th quarter. Weak side help needs to come faster on blitzes or drives though.
This is the playoffs. Can’t let 2 unproven guys who haven’t honed their games yet play in the playoffs. No way
No it didn’t. the Curry 3 after the terrible no out of bounds call killed us. Killed all momentum. After Tari missed couple close shots. Fred missed couple 3s. TO by Bari. And they let warriors off reb put backs etc. that lost us the game at that juncture late in the game. Fred got it down to 4 later with a 3 with green in the game. They simply didn’t rebound when it counted again letting butler put back. Then Sengun gave up a 3 and Green missed a jumper. Too late. That Curry sequence and the damn ref killed us long before.
PLAY CAM THE ****ING 6TH MAN OFF THE BENCH DAWG AND SHEPPARD THE ****ING DIME MAKER AND SNIPER FROM 3.
I think the Rockets should try to push the pace as much as they can and keep the Warriors' defense on their heels. This team's got the players to do it. The downside is that there will be a lot of mistakes and turnovers, and they'll have to keep those to a minimum somehow. Play fast, chaotic, and smart. After that I got nothing LOL.
It was Kerr’s bright idea. Ime doesn’t have offense ideas, he just rolls the ball out to FVV and Jalen and says do your thing.
I disagree. The Rockets as constructed are severely limited on the offensive end. MDA couldn't make this team work offensively. When JG and FVV are missing wide open shots and Amen/Sengun can't shoot that means we essentially have 4 non-shooters out on the court. What kind of offensive scheme are you supposed to run when the Warriors just pack the paint and leave shooters open? Tari got wide open threes too which clanked.
What he could have done is put FVV on the bench, not play him 40 minutes in a game where he was obviously off. What he could’ve done is ride with the unit that got you back into the game instead of benching the one guy that could hit shots. I’m not saying that Ime has all the tools to have a good offensive team, but stubbornly relying on a fat/slow aging pg when he is obviously having a terrible night is not just bad coaching it is horrible coaching. I get that over the course of a season you don’t make knee jerk reactions and start making wild adjustments to your system, but in the regular season you can survive 6 game losing streaks and let slumping players work themselves out of their slump. He put a unit in that was working and, then, inexplicably went back to his 2 worst players this night. Make all the excuses you want, but if Ime can’t make real-time adjustments he will forever be the whipping boy of coaches like Kerr.
