And partly on Ime's rotation and FVV's bad shooting. Here is why. Let's take a closer look at the 2nd quarter when everything started to collapse. The team lost its momentum when Ime started playing "five big" lineup, but the points difference were still managebale - GSW led by 6pts (32:26) with 6 mins 40 secs left in the 2nd quarter (btw, If Amen made these ******* FTs, they would only lead by 4pts) Then here comes our Jalen, he subs in: - one missed three against Curry with 5 mins 5 secs left in the 2nd quarter (36:28) - one offensive foul during a fast break against Podziemski with 3 mins 4 secs left in the 2nd quarter (38:34) - one missed lay up with 1 mins 48 secs left in the 2nd quarter (41:34) - one missed fade away inside free throw line with 38 secs left in the 2nd quarter (46:34) - one missed desperate last sec attempt before half-time break (47:34) To be more specific, Jalen missed three shots during a 9-0 GSW run in the end of 2nd quarter. I am not saying others were doing well, Jabari had turnovers, FVV couldn't score either but Jalen definitely should be the main responsible person. The 2nd quarter is just a nutshell of the whole game, we all know that he missed several shots again in the end of 4th quarter when we were so close to a real comeback. FVV was trash on offense tonight as well, but I always tend to criticize him less because I think he is not worth discussing as he should definitely not be in our team's future plan. It's our young cores we should pay attention to. And, at least, FVV probabaly is the only real PG in the team and can handle the ball without turnovers. Without him? I guess you all remember the losing streak we had. I understand it was Jalen's first playoff appearance but it's the same for Alpi, Bari, Tari and Amen. If Amen and Tari can't score, at least we know what they can do on the defense end. If FVV can't score, at least we know he is still an experienced ball handler. If Jalen can't score, I don't know whatelse I can expect from him on the floor. It's already 4th year and his improvements are just way too slow. I don't think he is the guy, maybe a 6th man at best.
You can always blame someone or something for a loss. No point in doing it though and they still play at least 3 more games. Show some grace.
What in the holy F are you talking about? You just listed out all the issues yourself. NONE of the perimeter penetrators were able to penetrate. Amen Thompson was 8 points on 9 shots and we were -16 with him on the floor. FVV was garbage too. They just all had a bad scoring game on the same day? You think it's a coincidence that all the rebounders played well? That every single guy going from perimeter to basket struggled? There's no clearer way a tactical mistake can show up in the stats. If this is not enough for you than you are incapable of understanding the game. You can definitely make the argument that Jalen had the worst night out of the players, but you're literally making the case that the loss is not only on him while proving something else. #1 reason for the loss is Ime Udoka getting his ass handed to him by a lower seeded Kerr for the 5th time in 7 games for the exact same reason: he's exchanging rebounds for 3's. #2 is Green for the reasons you mentioned. #3 is FVV going 4 of 19 from the floor as the guy we brought in to be an experienced leader and good in the half court. Distant #4 is Amen Thompson being non-existent on offense and letting his man score 6 points above his season average. Yes any one of these players could have swung the game by making 2-3 more shots or denying 2-3 more good attempts, but if you fix Ime's mistake all of them would perform better. Kerr has made a joke of Ime playing double bigs and multiple non-shooters. Every single game against Kerr he's been the higher seed and can't overcome it. It's obvious Kerr is tactically outclassing him. How ridiculous to dump fully on Jalen Green something that Ime failed at with current champions and superstars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. So don't tell me this is about superstars because even with superstars Udoka has not been able to perform against Kerr. If Jabari hadn't gotten hot, this would be a 20-point blowout. We out rebounded them 52-36. And just so you understand me: Jalen had a garbage game. You won't find me defending this performance. But don't be ridiculous about how to divvy up the accountability. It's clear as day.
Chill, as you listed several reasons, I see it's just a ranking issue between us. Your arguments don't change anything on my mind. My conclusion is still "Jalen is the main person who cost us this game". You can have your own views. Again, I am not saying others played well. If you think it's ridiculous to blame it mainly on Jalen so be it.
It's a ridiculous argument. ALL the perimeter players struggled. That means there is a systemic issue >>> systemic means it's the coaching. The coach has a history of being outclassed by this particular coach even when he has the higher seed team or superstars. I didn't say Jalen is the main person. I said he's the worst player performance. The main person is Ime. Your conclusion was decided before you made your points. That's why your points clearly show the problem before then jumping to a random conclusion. No one will take this analysis seriously, especially since even people who are piling on Jalen are like "come on man wtf".
FVV & Green ..... I want FVV gone at seasons end and I'm getting awful close to feeling the same way about Jalen. That lotto pick needs to be used on the guard with the highest upside on the board when it rolls around.
Yeah i also blame Ime tactically for this loss, we were on a roll from the 3rd to the 4th and clawed back to within 5 or so points in the 4th and Ime decides to bring back JG who is atm something like 3-12 and took out Bari who was catching fire. Honestly, wtf was he thinking 1)Ime 2)JG
I am serious enough with my own conclusion and I am ok with that. Who cares if no one takes this analysis seriously. You are becoming weird with this childish remark.
I want Jalen gone since the second half of last season, then his hot streak came.. and he did show many improvements this season (compared with his retrogressive first three seasons). I thought ohh..maybe give him another try? Maybe it's still too early...Anyway, I think we should all have a clear answer when Rockets finishes this season. We don't have much more time to waste if he is not the guy.
Everyone is biased, but not every argument is "I wanted him gone so now let me poorly reverse-engineer my analysis". Others make an earnest attempt to be biased. You just went all in on your bias. It's super obvious. Your analysis points to there being a larger problem. You just skipped your own data and jumped to your emotional take. It's silly. Steph Curry scored 6 points above his season average. Jimmy Butler scored 8 points above his playoff average. So the defense was supposed to do what exactly? Let Curry AND Butler get theirs? lol That's half the game. In the other half of the game, we scored 85 points. Jalen Green is not capable of tanking an entire team like that and EVEN IF he was doing so bad that this whole game was on him, it's still idiotic for Ime to then play him isn't it? Like I'm the biggest Jalen Green fan and I was like "why are you putting him back in in the 4th?" You're a hater dude. This is no analysis. You looked for the 3 worst things Jalen did and pasted your emotional take on it. The team sucked, there's no excuse for scoring 85 points. We achieved what our offense wanted, we crushed them on the boards and held them below 100. Ime's plan failed spectacularly for the 5th time in 7 games against Kerr. You keep blaming Jalen for all the perimeter players finding it impossible to get to the rim (because our guys are clogging it with their defenders) AND for the perimeter players' own defenders to not worry about drives and keep contesting jumpers. ALLL of that is on Jalen, sure.
Pretty much how I feel about it. Wanted him gone last year despite the hot streak, wanted him gone when he began the season shooting like shiit then he had a long period of good play .... I started to thinkin - Maybe the light came on. Then this performance in the biggest game of his entire life. He's stealing $33m next year at that rate. If they lose this series because of guard play, both of them should be gone.
At least you get this right and I already said it in the first sentence of my thread - "partly on Ime's rotation". Again, I blame this loss mainly on Jalen and you don't. Cut other ****, it's this simple.
It's just really frustrating to watch his developments in these four years, way too slow in all aspects. Can you imagine Anthony Edwards is only less than one year older than Jalen? Cade is also shining this season, I think he would have been a perfect fit with Alpi, it's a pity it won't happen in our universe.
Houston sports need more pressure from their fan base. F being satisfied with being the almost got it team.
Pressure? This season? Why even have Ime as a COY finalist then; unable to meet some people’s lofty expectations, the Rockets only won 52 games in the regular season. Consider everyone - players coaches front office staff - to be on the hot seat. /s
