ClutchFans Game Thread: Warriors @ Rockets 4/20/2025 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

I can't see how Amen can be a superstar (like a lot of peeps say) when he can't shoot (free throws or jump shots) and can be so out of control. He is still a one-way player and has long ways to go on offense.

 

Kobe would have posted his little ass up so that's the big difference there.

If you look at any player that has Steph on him they just post him up, force the double team or score on him.

 

Im not claiming FV was better than Jalen - I am claiming they were both awful and deserve a lot of criticism.

Jalen Green was 3-15 from the floor, didn’t go to line, didn’t finish at the rim and really was a negative on the offensive side of the ball. Green is supposed to score 20-25 points a game for the Rockets and he scored 7 points on 15 shots. He was a zero on offense.

This was the Rockets first playoff game with this group - the Warriors have played 100’s of playoff games.

It’s going to be hard to win this series with the Warriors having the best two players in this series - but it is still winnable at this point and it was one game.

 

Warriors were in complete control for like 80% of the game

the Rockets being so reliant on offensive boards just to score is a recipe for disaster

GS’s offense will be more explosive once we get to San Francisco, and the Rockets just validated all the questions and concerns people had about them going into the playoffs

FVV gave us his usual playoff performance, and Jalen just can’t be trusted

offense out here looking like some of those road games in Utah during the Van Gundy era

 

No fan of Green but it is his first Playoff appearance I guess and Fred has been there for a couple more times.

Green has come a long way and Udoka at least changed him to be a winning player in the last 1 or 2 years?

I think he is a good player here and there but I am not expecting him to be there every game.

 

look, i love amen aswell, but i dont get it either. sure, he's a magnificent defender, but no way in hell he's close to being a star in this league.

 

Ime hasn’t adjusted unless there was an injury all year. The only way to beat this GSW team with our personality is a full game of defensive kaos. We should be starting Amen, Dillon, Tari, Jabari, and Sengun. Make it a complete nightmare for Curry and Butler. Make Kerr make the adjustments, because he would never see it coming. Everybody talks about how tough Ime is, but he doesn’t have the balls to sit FVV, which everyone that watched that game knows needs to happen. But, but, but we are the second seed so he is a great coach. No, we have great players and he is a great defensive coach. He sucks at 50% of the game.

Losing to Steve Kerr and the Warriors is the worst man. Really hate that we pulled this matchup.

I think Jalen biggest issue tonight was not passing when he got inside the paint.

He didnt shoot well but imo was fouled nearly every time he took a 2pt shot. 0/4 from deep sucks but 3 where contested self made attempts.

He had no easy looks tonight and we ran almost no sets to get him easy looks. He got 1 catch and shoot 3 which tbf he missed.

Meanwhile he was playing solid defense, hustling and crashing the boards.

Again i think his biggest issue was he drove into traffic, no foul cslls, instead of passing to an open man. But he should have shot fts

 

I was watching the game with my son and calling the bricks as they launched. I could tell when they released they weren't centered up and were releasing too flat or too high. I called there misses at such a high percentage of accuracy my son thought I was psychic.

 

Does Jalen need to go to Dream's Big Man Camp like Kobe did?

 

Was at the game the crowd was amazing we gotta keep this up for game 2.

 

It sucks but it will be so much sweeter if we pull it off.

It just comes down to Green and Amen, especially Green.

Either he proves he can be a franchise player this series or he doesn't. It really is that simple.

It's one game in the end, if he averages 35 the rest of the series then this game will be forgotten, but the Rockets are here in this 2 spot because of Amen, Sengun, and Jalen, and for two of the three to play so poorly ain't gonna cut it. If we were playing Memphis, maybe, we get away with this.

 

The backcourt and Ime lost this game.

Both Jalen and FVV were garbage. Ime was also dumb AF he can see both Jalen and FVV cant hit shots why were they still in the game? We actually cut the lead when both were sat down but Ime out them back in.

As usual Sengun was smoking he got benched. Adams was destroying GSW front court and he got benched. Ime just loves to ice our guys when they are playing great and then expect them to pick up exactly where they left off lol wtf. If we had a better coach FVV and Jalen would have played very little and Jabari, Tari and Adams would've played 30 mins. Instead the 2 worst shooting guys played the most lol wtf.

Amen was meh. Yeah he was good defensively but he also had a lot of turnovers and missed so many fts.

FVV...dude had 2 weeks off and is still garbage. I am glad he is on an unguaranteed contract and thank you Stone for that unguaranteed contract. Dude cant shoot for ****.

 

Amen had an off game and you could tell he was ready to take over in the 4th quarter, but Ime decided FVV and Jalen needed to come in an run the offense. Amen’s work ethic is crazy and he will come back next year and be an 80% FT shooter and decent from 3. Mark my word.

 

Jalen is only 23 and we arent even paying him like a franchise player, we are paying him like an elite role player. If this is indeed his ceiling thats not so bad, he is like Buddy Hield with defense then.

All the Rox young guys shouldnt be judged by this series as this is their first one.
