There is literally a guy on the rockets that will shoot to score no matter what. Can Whitmore.

Not the conventional Go to scorer but defensively it has to be Amen.

Turn Defense into Offense. vice versa.

At the same time--though I largely agree with you on his skills--Amen's physical gifts are far beyond either Sengun's (who has nowhere near the athleticism) or Green's (who has nowhere near the size/length). Goldilocks, if you will.

If Amen can take even a moderate step forward on his ball skills and/or shooting... NBA better watch out!

    Close games -

    November 10 against the Pistons

Sengun with 5 points in the final 2 minutes (2 buckets off of rebounds).

    November 18 against the Bucks

3.5 seconds left they went to Sengun (bad pass, ball ends up out of bounds).

    December 1 OKC
2 FVV Sengun pick and roll plays.

    December 11 GSW.

Down 3 with 32 second left, Iso Sengun - gets a layup,
This is the game Green went to the floor for the loose ball after a stop.
    3.5 seconds left Green hits 2 FT's

    Jan 22 Cleveland

Down 2 FVV Sengun pick and roll - Sengun layup
Tie game, Amen gets a steal ball knocked out of bounds, Sengun high post fouled 2ft for the win.

    Feb 4 Brooklyn
Down 2 3.5 seconds too Jalen out top - missed a decent look at a 3.

    Feb 25

Jalen out top passes to Sengun on the far wing, Sengun drive pass to Tari near the rim knocked out of bounds, Sengun to the line

Against Boston Amen crashed the boards, rebound, putback

    Looks like "mostly (Sengun)"

Sounds sweet in theory, but outside of the ‘04 Pistons, most contenders don’t roll that way. We need a go-to guy, someone to lean on when it counts, because our offense gets sloppy fast without clear reads and decisions. Jalen and Sengun are the obvious picks, but I’m banking more on Sengun to make smarter plays and create better opportunities. Still, Jalen might just shock us and show he’s ready to step up on this stage.

Yes, the first Playoffs are to find out who steps up and if we need a trade and for which player archetype later on.

As ive stated elsewhere... we dont have a 'go to guy' - we need to play to the hot hand, whoever that may be on any given night,

Idk why so many people are obsessed with anointing one person as 'that guy'? It is a team sport.... Personally, I'm enjoying this balanced Pistons championship type team... rather than being at the mercy of a spoiled prima donna or two...

That would be ideal but they all have to be paid similarly which is almost impossible.

That is close to socialism Murica ever got with touches exception being Jalen's 3 point attempts.

You can have varying levels of ability and compensation... but that doesnt mean u gotta have a particular guy take the shot... If Jalen is shooting 2-12 on the night and Dillon Brooks is 7-8... if we're down 1 point with 10 seconds remaining... idc who gets paid what... lol! Then u run the "star" as a diversion - and have him dish to the hot hand... we dont have to live n die by 1 dude's performance on any given night.
There were a couple games down the stretch where we shut down the stars - and got beat by bench players who then got better looks... that was good coaching on their part.

personally... i got no desire to build some monster prima donna who gets a big head because he's been dubbed 'the face of the franchise'...
we build our own monsters... Harden was cool when he got to town. Remember how he n Lin n Parsons had a lil group pre-game thing... then it became about 'the guy'....

yeh... I much more prefer the Pistons championship type thing... if an opportunity to get a superstar comes along tomorrow then im all ears... in the meantime, i got no desire to play that game... lol

This seems like it's missing like half close games.

Could have been Butler or Durant or Zion, but Stone did zippo at the trade deadline. End of story and likely end of season very soon for our Rockets.

I appreciate your commitment to Tate lol.

I gotta admit Tate just seems like an awesome dude to root for. Seems like a great teammate to have.

There is precedent for not having “a guy.” The Pistons in 2004 or whatever year they won it, didn’t really have a guy. They had several guys that were really good and each had a speciality. Iirc, Rip took a lot of clutch shots bc he was so good from mid range. But there were many playoff games where Chauncey led the team, or Prince.

And you don’t need a guy to make the shot at the end of the game. You just need him to make a play. And Alpi or Jalen, possibly Amen can do that fairly well. Dillon, Fred, Tari, Jabari are capable of hitting a clutch open shot, ala Robert Horry.

Kerr: I don’t have a game plan, they can beat us with a different player EVERY game! The Rockets are the G.O.A.T.
