I hear ya but if we use our 2nd on a RB then we're not getting a high-quality player at a position of greater need.
Getting back to Walter Nolan for a moment, am I the only one here that believes it's possible that he is a special talent that we can't pass on at 25 if available?
When is your surgery? My mother in law just got through recovering from this a couple of years ago. She lived with us while she was recuperating. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Wow, that's a high bar. My dream mock 1. Loveland 2. Alfred Collins 3. Kyle Williams 3. Ratledge 5. Brashard Smith.
Prayers said for a successful surgery and, more importantly, that you're able to follow the draft and NBA playoffs in the hospital!
He's a first round talent, not a special talent. He has red flags that I know will remove him from the Texans board in the first round so I have lost interest in predicting how he will fit in with the Texans defensive front.
I have noticed a huge new trend with draft analysts and tv/radio personalities that cover the draft prospects. Nobody wants to say anything negative about prospects anymore. The players with maturity issues or family drama issues are just not covered or talked about. Agents have started threatening media members with lawsuits because they don't want their clients slandered before the draft. If a media member makes it known that a certain prospect is difficult to coach or is late for meetings and that prospect falls in the draft because of the reporting then that media member will stop receiving tips and could potentially be sued. If a top ranked prospect is not receiving the coverage they would rightfully deserve it's possible the media members are avoiding talking about them. If a prospect handles their business very positively such as Banks or Booker, you are going to hear about it.
I'll understand if we pick him although I also understand that our first pick might be better invested in the best OL available.
Thanks @raining threes! It's Friday, 25 Apr. I’m a great candidate because I'm overall in good shape was working out 6 days a week until I got the news. Glad your mother-in-law recovered, hope she is well. Cigars and bourbon will have to take a pause. Ce la vie!
Unfortunately, the areas of greatest need are top heavy and getting more than one will be almost impossible. About the best we can do is solid depth or if we're really lucky, a rotation player. I hold out as much hope for Jack Nelson using 166 as I do for picks at 79 or 89. There's not much quality depth beyond the middle 1st and a ton of mid tier prospects afterward.
Trends are made to be broken including players from small schools not being good enough to become NFL stars. Even perfect picks can sour because of what golfers call the rub of the green. It's that unavoidable chance which you cannot foresee or control. It keeps gamblers coming back and bookies in business.
I get this and I'm not the guy that's willing to try to break the trend. Especially when there are players out there at schools with better proven track records of developing guys like Jackson/Ratledge etc... than Alabama does developing their OL.
You need to listen to a podcast called The Draft Show. They talked about James Pearce having major character concerns. But in general I agree with your assessment.
