Jokic is not KD. OKC would throw down to get Jokic even if they win the title because the lineup you list would be too good.

Denver isn’t trading Jokic and he wants to finish his career there. Even if they did decide to trade him, it would take 5-6 good frp’s and a couple of near all-stars to get him. We are talking a guy that should be MVP every year. Our offer would have to be all the picks and swaps we can legally trade, Sengun, and one of Jabari or Jalen at the minimum. They would probably ask for Sengun and Amen (which the Rockets should decline).

Exactly. OKC can't afford to make an offer that the Rockets wouldn't have to include Amen to try to beat. Amen and Jokic would be too good together. Unfortunately, Jokic and SGA would be too good together as well if Jokic asked out.

the thing is OKC would have to giveup Chet/Williams which i don't think they would do. so theoretically if they value Sengun highly then we may be actually able to outbid them.

Yeah, I wouldn’t give up Jabari for Reed straight up. I want Reed, Jabari, Tari, and Sengun to be our frontcourt rotation. Not sure if Reed should start at Pf and Jabari and SF, but it is feasible. Tari should come off the bench regardless.

OKC can't likely can't pay Chet, JW, SGA for more than a year or 2 more. I think OKC would choose SGA and Jokic over SGA and either Chet or JW.

Also, Jokic would fit too well with the Rockets. I just don't think any other team could throw down with the Rockets in a bid for Jokic. If Denver was intent on trading Jokic (i.e.,he asks out), OKC has to make an offer that even if the Rockets overbid them, it is a big offer that includes more than just Sengun and picks.

Reed would start at PG and Tari at PF.

I would rather have both Naz and Jabari honestly. Sengun/Reid/Smith is a fantastic frontcourt. I would maybe consider trading Tari for Naz, given Tari's injury history, lower 3P volume, and our greater depth at the 3 and 4 than at the 4 and 5.

I stated this in another thread, but I think it is imperative that the Rockets get Giannis this off-season. If we don’t he will end up on the Lakers when Lebron retires and a very small window of 2-3 years where a non coast teams can win a championship will close. It is very doable this off-season.
Sengun, Dillon, the 27 and 29 Suns pick, the Net’s swap and 2 future Rocket FRP’s for Giannis. Salaries match. We then use the 25 Suns pick for a project center or PF and make Jabari beef up this off-season. Amen, Jalen, Tari, Jabari, Giannis to start. FVV (extended at 20m), Reed, Cam, Adams, Rookie second unit.

You would have to completely gut the team to get Giannis

No you wouldn’t. Of course, neither of us know for sure, but if Giannis wants out he will go to the highest bidder. It would be between us, SA, and possibly Minnesota if they were willing to give up Ant. Other than Ant, I believe Sengun would be the best young player available for Ant and our bevy of draft picks is better than most, except SA thanks to Atlanta.

If I’m the Bucks, I’m demanding Amen in any Giannis trade.

At this point I only trade Amen for Wemby, Ant or Luka. I wouldn’t trade him for any 30yr old player.

then you turn them down. No big deal. See if they can do better than Sengun.

I agree. I’m just guessing what the Bucks would demand. From the Thunder, they’ll probably demand JDub and Chet, etc.

let’s put it this way — reports say the Bucks turned down a Luka/Giannis swap. If Giannis is ever on the market, the price will be absurd.

They'll ask for Sengun and Amen for sure. They'll want picks on top of that. Other teams will make things work

I would only trade him for Jokic. Amen with an outside shot is better than Wemby even outside the injury concerns. Luka doesn’t play defense and will become an injury concern if he doesn’t devote himself to conditioning. I want to see Ant in the playoffs and, then maybe. It’s all mute except for Ant anyway. None of those other guys will ever be on the trade block. Luka is going to be a lifelong Laker or until he drinks himself out of the league. We will have a 2-3 year window to compete when Lebron and Curry retire. Amen is one of our 2 stars. Jury is out on who the other one will be. I think Giannis is a distinct possibility.

Tell me what other team besides SA or OKC could make it work (Giannis will have a say as well). The Lakers if the league gets involved is about it and it would take a Doncic level corruption to make that happen. The Rockets won’t consider any trade with Amen involved.
