This WR is short, quick, & fast. This service predicts him to go undrafted. I'd like to use a 7th on him and use him as a situational receiver and/or general depth. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/LaJohntay-Wester-WR-FloridaAtlantic
This DT out of Notre Dame looks attractive to me if he's available in the 5th. Might be a steal. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Rylie-Mills-DL-NotreDame
The Texans said they were drafting an offensive lineman. Which I believe is completely true and pretty much obvious. Which round and how many offensive lineman, nobody knows except for the Texans.
I've heard it said that we could use a coverage LB. A guy that might fit the bill and who may be available in the 5th is Cody Simon of Ohio State, who is also an outstanding special teams player. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Cody-Simon-LB-OhioState
If it's up to me I'm taking two guards and an OT. If we get the right guys our OL might be pretty solid by midway through the season.
Lance makes a good point about the board breaking the Texans way. Without trades the Texans will get their guy. Last year, the Rams traded three spots in front of the Texans to draft DT Braden Fiske. The Eagles then trade two spots in front of the Texans to take DB Cooper Dejean. Finally, the Saints jumped in front of the Texans to draft Kool Aid McKinstry. All three players were under consideration for the Texans at pick 42. Of course the Texans drafting Lassiter worked out well. The trades are impossible to predict because they happen at the spur of the moment. Hopefully, if the Texans get jumped in the 1st round it will be for a QB. Everybody knows the Texans are leaning on a Offensive lineman in the 1st round. The Vikings picking in front of the Texans only have 4 picks in the draft so I am expecting a trade at that spot.
The Texans don't have to draft multiple offensive lineman. The Tackles are set this year with Blake Fisher, Tytus Howard and Cam Robinson. Your set at Center with Jarrett Patterson with Juice Scruggs backing him up. People like to point out that Jarrett Patterson was a 6th round pick and think that because he was drafted in the later rounds that he's not that great of a player. Patterson was consistently mocked as a 2nd round talent in his senior year until he had the injury. That's the only reason he was available in the 6th round. Patterson was an absolute steal in the 6th round and he has performed well. You can draft a guard in the 1st round and be set on the offensive line with all the competition that was brought in during Free Agency.
I use to like Lance when he was on 610am but when he said the Texans were drafting Will Levis! I was through
I would say that center is the least of our concerns along the OL in this draft. Jarrett is ok and I give Nick credit for finding him in the 6th round. It might be a different story next draft.
Is Walter Nolan too special a player to pass on if available? He might be. Don't be shocked if we take him if he's available. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Walter-Nolen-DL-TexasAANDM
