His D is pretty good. If you have a D like the Suns EVERYONE is going to look bad. No POA or rim protection will completely collapse the defense with no ability to recover. He is going to mostly lock down his guy and switch effectively on smaller players and use his footwork and reach against them. He might have lost half a step but he used to play PG so this is not like any other big. He is basically still a guard in a big's body. He's not making an all NBA D team but he is definitely average to above average.
Say no to old hags. Especially say no to the old hags who don't know they're old hags. No wonder the NBA is serving us the ancients from California. That's what we want. Apparently. Durant ain't helping the Rockets win a championship, and he'd want to get paid like a player who could. We would have a better chance of beating the Warriors if they had Durant instead of Butler. Butler impacts and changes a team. Durant is a solo artist playing a team game. Always has been.
Melo isn't as decorated, he ain't a former MVP and Finals MVP. He is 2x the player that Melo was. However yeah, Durant is more of a single assassin who is getting older. Both are not mutually exclusive.
What good does it do for the Suns to get the 25,27 & 29 picks from the Rockets when the Bullets or Jazz own their 26,28,30 & 31 picks .... are they only gonna tank every other year?
which is why I’m convinced that the Suns would rather trade Durant for guys like Dillon Brooks than draft picks. They don’t have anything Washington woukd want to trade them back their picks, so why try to get the rockets picks? They will keep trying to retool around Booker and I don’t think their strategy involves getting any of their picks back and tanking.
Of course this doesn't tell the entire story, but here are some defensive metrics compared between KD and Dillon. Just on a surface level it would appear that KD isn't all that worse than Dillon. Would obviously not be as good defending in space, but I wouldn't say he's a sieve. And on the other end of the spectrum KD is of course better defending around the rim and getting Defensive rebounds. Based on his more than passable defense combined with his elite offensive abilities I think just from an on court fit adding KD makes a TON of sense.
Can't disagree .... he does make a ton of sense from an on court aspect (hell he makes sense like that for just about every team) .... but he doesn't make sense financially and helping them improve sabotages the value of those picks.
What? We are talking about basketball years here. He will be 37 for the entire next basketball year/season.
I was almost leaning towards trading for him, but seeing his latest fickle and immature tweeting that he was a leader on every team he’s been on. 100% NO to KD
Im not knowledgeable about how this would affect us moving forward financially. Ill defer to you and others on that. BUT i have a question...regarding finances a couple years down the line and the future value of Phoenix's picks lessening..lets assume both of those are true... Would you take that tradeoff for a 2-3 year window where we are a favorite to win the Title? I would. Especially if youre getting him without giving up key young players.
Rockets just need a shooter in the offseason! KD, although I like him, would not be a good move. Jabari Smith, Amen, Jalen and possibly Sengun is going to be enough to build around. The only reason I say "POSSIBLY" for Sengun, is I want him to expand his shooting range. Outside of that, I think the Rockets have four future stars and three good role players in Tari, Cam and Reed.
Suns are planning to extend booker for 2 years $150M. I don't think the Rockets want anything to do w Booker at $75M a year in his age 32-33 seasons, and the Suns do not appear to be wanting to trade Booker. They do not seem to want to go with a full rebuild, they are going to retool around Book. "The Phoenix Suns are expected to offer Devin Booker a two-year, $149.8 million contract extension this summer. Booker is eligible to sign this extension, which would extend his commitment with the Suns through the 2027-28 season. This comes after he just completed the first year of his four-year, $220 million supermax deal. " He is probably better off just staying in PHX, getting super max deals, he will end up making $750M+ in career earnings, it would be better for his legacy staying w one team his whole career. Guys like Kyrie, Harden, and so many others gave up max deals by switching teams that cost them hundreds of millions and no rings from it.
Chances are both Ant and Ja get kicked out in the first round. Grizz may not even make playoffs. I would be calling them and the 76ers about Maxey. We have the assets for it.
What do you think these players are, dogs? Just cuz I work a corporate job doesnt mean I count my age in the fiscal year. Regardless, hemming and hawing over 1 yr is immaterial. He is still extremely old and has always been injured in recent years. I think he missed 20 games this season and the Suns were 3-17 without him. They would be play in for sure if he was healthy. I dont want us to be the Suns next year totally dependent on KD's health. Again, if you arent extending KD this is a joke of a trade. 1 yr rental even for whatever assets Suns would want is not worth it.
