As for tackling the violations of immigration laws, in the absence of a magic Time Machine, there is no realistic fix to the problem. That said, the availability of a viable fix to this issue is entirely distinct from the policy position that one holds on whether immigration laws should be enforced.

Now for the real talk - If you think lord Trump ever had any intention of deporting all the illegals in this country, you are an idiot. He has already said he is not going to take action on illegal aliens in farming, restaurants and hospitality. Look up his comments on the subject. It’s all there. Sure, he is calling it a pause, but we know full well it would collapse those industries. He has zero intention of deporting all illegals, even if it were possible to do so with a snap of his fingers. He has no interest in collapsing the domestic farming and agriculture economy.

But Trump sure did make that promise to you morons in the campaign. He most definitely made sure that you blame brown people for the ills in life and view them as all criminals, rapists, gang members and drug dealers. They want it to persist because (1) you idiots have been convinced to be enraged by it and hate Dems and brown people, and (2) it is absolutely essential for the US economy. It is the lowest hanging fruit that costs them nothing, and is extremely effective.

Get it through your thick head that every elected official understands that illegal immigrants are hugely beneficial and essential to the US economy and nobody actually wants it to stop. The US is benefitting from dirt cheap illegal immigrant labor that is not available anywhere else. Republicans simply want you to hate brown people, think they are all murders, rapists and criminals, and hate blame democrats.

Do you believe the Trump administration claim that he is a member of MS13?

If the claim is inaccurate, do you believe it is a sincere mistake in labeling him a member of MS13 or is there a purpose in intentionally lying if it isn't the case he is a member of ms13?

Also what do you think is the intention of the Trump administration wanting to send American citizens to CECOT which he has explicitly expressed an interest in? Remember CECOT is a prison that has no concept of "sentences". Everyone in the prison is there without a criminal sentencing. In all of CECOT's existence, zero prisoners have ever left. So why do you think the Trump administration is openly expressing a desire to send American citizens to a foreign concentration camps?

I think engagement in this false framing isn't a good idea. It concedes to a bad faith right wing talking point that illegal immigration is a problem for citizens rather than illegal immigration is an exploitative system that exploits poor people from the global south trying to migrate here for job opportunities.

The reason why our politicians don't try to tackle the issue because capitalism loves cheap labor. That is it. All the notions about "security" and reducing crime etc are bad faith reasons to demonize illegal aliens to where they are dehumanized to a point where they are too afraid to speak up when their bosses abuse them. I see these types of questions asked frequently. What does it matter what anyone on this site believes? It has zero impact, even if you apply the infinite worlds theory to it. I completely agree with you on the capitalism loves cheap labor and exploitation of poor immigrants. I thought I had made that point, but you are right, i framed it as cheap labor for the benefit of the US economy without mentioning the corresponding exploitative part.

To some extent, this exploitative system is “agreed to” by the illegal immigrant. Not in any contractual sense, but a semi informed sense. Illegal immigrants understand they will get crap wages here, but sadly, it is an improvement from what they are leaving, and there presumably is hope that they can rise above the crap wages eventually. Or for others, the crap wages are fine because in the US, their chances of getting murdered, raped, robbed or persecuted are lower. It is a sh-tty bargain and the world should be a better place. But that is their reality. There should be viable pathways for people to better themselves.

When compared to legal citizens of the US, I don’t think illegal aliens are any more likely to commit crime or harm. And they do work that nobody wants to do for wages that nobody would accept.
