Yeah I remember the Stone hate brigading calling the Suns picks a dumb move by Stone. Should you be apologizing once more?
I like him, good defense, might be a bit of a reach at #9 though for an older safer prospect type of guy who plays that nebulous "combo forward" position where we already have Amen, Dillon, Tari, and Bari all getting minutes. He feels like a late lottery pick to me moreso than a mid-lotto pick. Now, if we were to make a trade that sends out one or more of our forwards--then he would make a ton of sense for us. When you have a competitive team, I really like these older-but-still-talented guys, it's so much easier for them to step in and just contribute right away like Tari did. Actually, his game bears some similarities with Tari's. Big, long, athletic forward, not much of an offensive playmaker/shot creator, but great at rebounding and defense. He's probably better at finishing around the rim and shooting three pointers than Tari too. So, if for whatever reason we don't want to extend Tari and trade him this offseason--sure, Fleming would be a good replacement IMO.
Would be at the top of my list were we in need of help at the 4 and trading back a few spots ..... but I think that all those minutes are locked up - barring a trade. I'm looking at point guards .... and Derik Queen, not a Maluach fan. Kasparas Jakucionis Egor Demin Jase Richardson
Re: Suns Coach. Wanted Billups but Blazers resigned him out on retreads like Malone and Taylor from Memphis. Rumor is Sam Cassell.
I didn’t think Stone got enough to give the Nets back their picks once I saw what they had lined up with the Knicks. I didn’t think the 2025 Suns pick swap would convey and I didn’t think much of the 2029 Dallas pick. But it turned out to be a great move.
Even as someone who agreed with the trade, this is a pretty stupid and way too early of a take. If the Nets get Flagg who go on to become a superstar and whoever the Rockets take can't even make the rotation, then would you apologize to the anti-trade people in the future? No one knows the results of these kind of trades until time has allowed all the picks to be made and players to either blossom or flame out.
I don't like the looks of him at all But if he was a Rocket I could learn to like him because I like his game.
Can shoot the 3, mobile defend, and has elite wing size at 6’9 with a nice wingspan question is what position does he play? 5, 4 or 3? I can see him as a pascal or bam kinda player
I’ll keep pitching this. If we don’t get a top 4 pick. We should take a big man. I’d be happy with Maluach, content with Newell and more than ok with Fleming
I don't understand this .... the center spot was the teams lone all star this season. The point guard position is the teams weak link. It's a whole lot easier to find and pay a backup big than it is to find a starter at the PG spot. You could bring back Adams who has continuity with pretty much the entire team at a reasonable cost and take a swing for the fences on a point guard with star potential. Spending a lottery pick on what would likely be no more than a backup for the players entre time here (unless you trade Sengun) just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Maybe you could talk me into Derek Queen IF you could convince me he could start at the 4 spot .... but I don't really see that as an option. I'm not a fan of Maluach ..... but I wouldn't mind Flemming in a trade down scenario.
The pick gives Stone another weapon in his arsenal. Obviously we will wait and see for many things. How we do in the playoffs, where the pick ends up landing and are there any superstars that are worth trading for. In my opinion, this pick allows us to either take a high upside player and move him to another team or replace someone in a position of need who could be moved for a package of a better player, all while having the salary flexibility of adding a fresh rookie deal. Stone has done pretty damn well with the cards he’s been dealt.
He still screwed up. He could easily have gotten PHI 2027. Nets were doing that deal with the Knicks hell or high water it was that good.
We neee a crafty guard and let FVV walk away. It is that simple. It is easier to find a back up center. Let Reed and Cam grow. Find a good primary ball handler either by draft or by trade or do both. Without FVV we might regress a bit next year but it will pay off
No, no, and no! Brooklyn has the 6th pick which has much better odds of Flagg which is a life changer in the NBA. Weak draft so it’s Flagg or nothing. We’ll get nothing at 9/10. Stone gave away our 2026 Brooklyn lottery pick too. So we basically have to wait until 2027 to get a good young player. The players available at 10 this year are worse than anything we already have on our roster minus Nate Williams who is the biggest gun of all time (with no shooting talent outside of 5 feet).
