Man, if ever there were probables taylor made to get this offense out of a slump!! Astros sweep, scoring 5+ runs in each game and 20 total.
Hopefully. I do feel like all 4 of Diaz, Alvarez, Walker, and Smith could heat up at the same time soon, in which case runs should come in bunches.
really could be if blanco bounces back. Gusto and wesneski have looked very solid for BOR guys . Imagine you had a best case depth scenario and those 3 could be out the pen or doing some sort of rotation shuffle. Im low key very upset about Garcia , and its sad to hear rumors that his return from injury is slowed by not being in good condition. Playoff rotation Framber Brown Lance Luis with those 3 out of the pen for long relief . In reality you'd probably take the 2 that are the hottest going in . But besides the point , its unlikely that Gusto especially is still pitching so well by the playoffs , very few young pitchers start off the year and pitch the whole season and then , in the playoffs , have the same stuff. But hell , the guy is 26 and threw almost 150 innings last year , so what do i know ?
Angels leading the AL West for the first time in a very, very long time. They've been on fire. Luckily Trout usually struggles here.
Gusto has been pretty damn good in the work he's gotten, nice chance for him to solidify an MLB rotation spot.
Angels have been swinging the bats well, not expecting too much but I do want Cam to find his groove.........he needs to play more, stop with the in and out of the line up and play the young man everyday
These next 18 games seem pretty important. Houston goes 10-8 or worse and the pressure will really start to mount, especially if the Angels and Rangers stay hot.
Last 2 games have been promising for Cam After the hitting coaches studied film and found he was standing further from the plate, and they gave him 2 days off to work on it.
I guess my points of optimism: - pitching (need to move on from Contreras and Abreu needs to sort himself out, which he usually does) - hitting, all 6 road games were in tough places to hit historically (Minny in April (weather) and Seattle). Couple that with no Spring Training for Walker, slumps for Alvarez/Diaz, and the MM/Daikin Park effect - you're just hoping they start putting together better ABs and find their level. Go 'stros!
I predict this is the series where Yordan, Walker, and Diaz break out. Once those 3 get going the offense is going to be fine. Altuve and Paredes can balance each other out. Meyers, Pena, Rodgers, and Smith can balance each other out. But Houston is dead in the water without Yordan, Diaz, and Walker meeting or exceeding their original projections.
Dubon really needs to be on this roster until/unless they bring up someone else who can play SS. But I would love for Brown to pull a Click move and trade him away and bring up Guillorme. Then identify the 2 best probable RHSP you are set to face in the next 6-9 days and sit Pena for one of them and Rodgers for the other. It won't happen though because he is EVERYONE'S golden boy.
