There is a killer instinct of competitiveness that great players have, something that drives them and usually that drive permeates to the team.

It is a drive to be great, a drive to kill the other team (metaphorically)........and those are the players that lead you to rings.

For me, I think the following Rockets have that.

    1. Amen
    2. Brooks
    3. Cam

The rest, I don't see a consistent will to try to compete, some of our other players don't always bring it, which is why I really want a LEADER and also why I believe Amen is that leader....

Whom has that killer instinct of a champion in your opinion?

And yes, this is subjective - so please make your case for whom has it and why you think they do.

I have to go with most all the roster. They hired one hell of a great, TOUGH coach and brought in some good, experienced vets to balance the team. They're going to go far

If Cam had it, he would play defense and pass and become a winning player.

Your infatuation with him continues to be odd and misplaced

IMHO, he has it, and his frustration comes from not being on the floor - but your point is well taken - maybe I am wrong that he doesn't have it yet......

I just see something in him that others don't, I guess......but I am certainly concerned about his attitude that can kill a career......so he has a lot to prove still.

Anyway, this is about whom you think has it.......vote - and make your case.

DD really just made this topic so he can sneak Cam in as #3.

    This is pathetic.

Jeff Green, Udoka, Steven Adams, maybe FVV. Depends if they were SNES guys or not.

    I did note choose:

FVV - too many unforced bad shots in the 4th this season
Tari - not really a go-to guy at the end of games
Cam - low IQ, won't get these chances
Reed - no proof he has it

Everyone else is a yes for me, but my top choice to hit a jumper to win a game is Jabari.

I think it depends on how you define killer instinct.

If it's getting excited for and playing great in big games, I've seen both Alpi and Jalen exhibit that trait, which is great. And they're our two best scorers and most seasoned young fellas.

If it's "I'm gonna mess up your life for the next 48 minutes, God bless", then Amen is definitely the guy--and DB has that attitude too, though he's more showy about it.

If it's taking and making big shots in HUGE games, FVV is the guy who's proven that he's got it. And Jabari has hit multiple game winners in his time with the Rockets, so we can't forget about him.

If it's playing hard as **** no matter who else is on the floor...Tari and Jae'sean have that unteachable motor (and Amen too but he's on another echelon IMO)

If it's being strong as ****, Steven Adams's got that covered.

Basically, all our guys can be killers in different ways. The playoffs will show us who's ready and who's not, and the best part is, not everyone has to be ready quite yet. We're ahead of schedule. But I bet nobody wants to face the Houston Rockets even now.

I think there's a difference between wanting to do whatever it takes for the team to win, and wanting to do whatever it takes to pump up your stats and make flashy plays. The former I would describe as having a "killer instinct", and I think most of the team has it under Udoka now, and that's why we're so good. We successfully built that culture.

But I want to call out two guys in particular on each side of the spectrum here:

Jabari is a guy I think has it despite being accused of the opposite. That dude is competitive as hell. His problem is actually that he's too much of a perfectionist and tries too hard sometimes. Not an attitude issue, but rather a thing where he needs to learn how to let it flow and play with confidence, without losing his desire to succeed. I think that's just youth, honestly.

Cam is a guy that I strongly disagree with DD on, he doesn't have it. He's in it for himself. That's not "killer instinct", where winning is what really matters, that's "I don't care about the team I'm gonna get mine". He's been given so many opportunities to play team basketball and to put the same effort into defense and court vision that he does into racking up points and he still struggles immensely with it, which is why he doesn't get to play much. Ime clearly thinks he doesn't have "it", because the raw talent is obviously there, but he's not doing what the team needs.

    1) Amen
    2) Alpi
    3) Jabari

As far as Alpi goes, in the OKC and GS games, I started seeing that fire in Sengun thanks to Chet and Draymond. I think we see him fully own his All-Star persona in the playoffs and realize he can be a go to guy when it counts.

I really want Jalen to be in this top 3, but I’m just not sure he’s there or will ever be. If he ever does cultivate a killer instinct like a Kobe/Jordan type, well— just watch tf out.

It is subjective indeed.. But mostly I think all of them have it in some capacity. You don't improve this much if everyone isn't on board with having a "killer" mentality. But if we're taking who can be a steady bucket getter in clutch situations ,which equates to "killers" , I'd say Green or Bari.. Those 2 can get off their shots if need be , although Bari is mostly because of his height advantages on the perimeter. Cam doesn't play enough and ridiculously overrated within the city limit and Sengun seems to flail due to exhaustion in clutch moments.. I wouldn't trust Dillon or Tari to do the right, normal, things in the clutch.. and really Green as well, but I trust him to get off a good shot at the least. FVV is well, FVV.. Amen is the lead as far as making a play when needed but I don't think of him as a guy that can get 10+ points in the 4th during a tight game.

I hate that DD has made CF turn on Cam to where they're irrationally critical of him
