I think you're conflating patience with the team vs. being patient with Reed. Fans seems to be more patient with the team. Hypothetically say Reed Sheppard plays 20mpg and average 12 points on high efficiency as backup PG, but because of his defense and general mistaken laden play as a rookie, the Rockets are only at 49 wins instead of 52 wins. Would you think fans here rioting for the Rockets to stop playing him? I would think it's the latter. Fans would be more excited to have yet another long term piece.
I think I am more requesting with Patience with Ime's handling of the situation Let him cook . . . . Rocket River
I am not saying he is worse than Holiday I am saying it will limit him like Holiday. Holiday is a good spot up shooter but since he cant playmake he can only be a career backup of the backup. And yes I am very excited for this team. Reed playing well is great cuz it fills the biggest gap on the roster RN.
I'm not sure I follow. If one set of circumstances allow a person to perform well at his job, and another set of circumstances do not, wouldn't it be better to put said employee in the environment where he can perform better? In this case, the answer Ime gives is that the employee performing well makes the company perform worse. But that is short term thinking, no? I'm not even saying Ime shouldn't think short term because he does have a team with a top-4 record. Just that he's clearly prioritizing team performance here. Because I can guarantee you if the Rockets were a 30-win team right now, Reed Sheppard is cooking every night and FVV isn't out there at the end of blowouts like he is this season.
Yes, I understood your analogy, but my point is I don't see Reed as limited at playmaking as Holiday. Aaron is the classic SG in a PG body, while Sheppard is a shooter who can also be a traditional 1. He really needs to be the lead guard to optimize his value, shuffling him off to the corner has been a waste. It took Uncle Jeff's court awareness to get him those corner 3s last night, because most of the time he never sees the ball. I understand what what your saying, I just don't think we'll have to worry that Reed's ceiling is Aaron. Hope that makes sense.
It's the stuff you see Curry do. Now I'm not saying he's Curry but that's a super confident shot. He's about to start stopping and popping from the logo next game.
He looks great, still has some moments where the speed of the game and size/athleticism of the defenders are a bit overwhelming for him. Great to see him get more comfortable with the shooting and can't wait to see him hopefully play more next season.
....please show me the way you would construct that trade and get it approved here: https://fanspo.com/nba/trade-machine ...Jokic would be awesome here but also that seems about as likely as us inventing a time machine and getting Prime Hakeem next year.
Holiday found a good situation at the wrong part of his career or maybe just wasn't good enough earlier in his career. There are non-PGs that can playmaker. Rockets playmaking is still weak mostly due to age and just can't play Holiday as much. 2 to 4 years from now, I don't think the Rockets will need as much playmaking. I was surprised last year that some team with offensive engines at another position didn't offer something to get the Rockets to trade him. He's not a great player, but he's fine being a three point shooter for stars.
It’s not letting me do 25-26 trades, is there a way to do that? Sengun and jalen is 67 outgoing, jokic and braun is 60. Take on someone like zeke puts it at 68.
That machine is not set to the 2025 off-season. It is likely very easy to match Jokic's salary in the offseason. Complications are that Nuggets aren't likely to trade him. If the Nuggets do trade him, complication would be the Thunder would offer Chet or Jalen Williams along with a ton of draft capital.
Hmm - I was under the impression Denver can't aggregate salaries in a trade as a 2nd apron team but maybe there is some nuance here. If that's true, then Houston would have to package only for Jokic's salary and given the nickel and diming to get salaries close enough, a 3rd team would likely have to be involved to absorb salaries because it would surely send Denver over the player limit. I feel like that's the problem with these Supermax contracts in the new harder cap CBA rules - it puts you on an island with that player. You have to get to the 2nd apron to fill out a competitive roster around them, but then it becomes really hard to tweak the roster and trading your Supermax player becomes really difficult because there are only a handful of players out there who could potentially be involved in a simple 1 for 1 (and they are generally the least "getable" players) so you are far more likely to trade many for one and then that becomes difficult without necessitating a 3rd team which comes with it's own set of assets you need to send to a team to make that work - it almost guarantees you have to overpay to trade for a SuperMax guy because you have to pay extra in facilitation costs to engage a team to take players back.
he's looked completely different since coming back from the hand injury. maybe he saw a sports psychologist. regardless, it's been great to see. him being able to be a good back-up PG next year will be key to us taking another step forward as a true title contender.
