It's a stupid Tinman argument. The thread is about tariffs and he starts ranting about drugs in California. Yes it's immature to keep responding. Sorry

It’s because tinman came into this thread posting his usual played out culture war stuff against Cali then proceeded to quadruple down. But this thread and story aren’t about the cultural war. It’s about an economical dominant state trying to circumvent the federal government’s decision to implement senseless tariffs.

Yeah yeah… thanks for the backhanded complement.

To the point though about corruption….

I can tell you a through line involving Trump's prior “deals” that involves Jared Kushner now that tells you what people need to know about how the Trump world is gaining wealth where other presidents in the past would never so blatantly flaunt in our faces.

-Jared Kushner and Trump backed MBS in his first term early on to solidify his power in Saudi Arabia and call off the dogs when he is linked to the brutal murder if a Washington Post journalist.
-MBS directs wealthy investors from Saudi Arabia to gift Jared Kushner with a 2 billion dollar “loan” as we all know.
-Jared Kushner uses new funds to invest in enough shares to sit on various boards with powerful stake in some interesting companies. One of those boards he then runs alongside other billionaires is QXO formerly known as XPO in order to start consolidating distribution channels that control supply chains in NA.
-Kushner and QXO engage in a hostile takeover of Beacon just this last month which if you don’t know anything about Beacon is the leading roofing supplier of most major brands of roofing material in NA. Basically any brand of roofing materials you see on the shelves at Home Depot are almost all Beacon brands.

Suddenly just like that using corrupt funds from the Saudis paid to him for covering up murder, Jared Kushner has now positioned himself and a handful of elites to potentially control the supply and distribution of nearly every building project in North America. Every new plant built to every DR Horton 1500 square foot family home will be reliant on their control of the supply chain of roofing materials.

That’s just one example of how Trump and his inner circle view these “deals” that the government is making… now using the largest tariff increase since the 1930’s.

It’s all about money and power. If you sit back and wonder why the F did Trump do this…it’s always a safe bet to assume that in the end either Trump or someone close to him is getting their coffers filled.

Trump is not a smart man. But he is always looking at any tool he has to create leverage he can use for personal favors which typically put money in the pockets of himself or those oligarchs around him…. All at the expense of Americans having to foot the bill for stuff like this or the tax breaks for the wealthy, etc.

There are Tariffs and then there are the Trump Tariffs. Two vastly different things with vastly different purposes.

I am not dismissing your over all premise. However this is politics. It happens with every civilization since the beginning of time and it happens with every presidency. As USA is the dominant power, the presidential shifts have massive plays across the globe. Today you're a 2028 winner. tomorrow you're a 2032 loser. The constant whiplashing creates uncertainty and a lack of trust across the globe. The parties would at least put the country first then their party, but now both parties are only concerned about holding power first and foremost. Bush was one of the worst as was Biden.

Instead of trying to pass more and more regulations to 'fix the problem' that eventually creates unique loopholes for the wealthy/powerful, we just need to start trending in the other direction. forget the fingerpointing .... both partys need to start working together more. Both parties have become the 'get in the way of progress' and when upper echelon party members start promoting this behavior, it leads to the destruction of the party. Republicans were completely washed out after Bush, which lead to the tea party and MAGA movements. Now democrats are doing it (just look at the joint address to congress speech).

What I am ultimately stating is that as a country, we need to get the self serving politicians out, not just the ones from the other team.

Note: We shouldn't be relying on Dr Horton to build homes. Its a shitty company that builds shitty homes. We need high tech automation of some sorts.
Note 2: Stating Trump is an idiot doesn't do well for your argument. Nearly every president elected is very competent. Even Harris is an above average intellect and she ran one of the most r****ded national campaigns I've seen.

The most ridiculous claim by Trump about tariffs is other countries are treating us unfairly.

    We are the wealthiest nation.

In Trump's worldview, the rich have carte blanche to screw the poor out of whatever they want to take, so yeah, according to his view they probably are treating us unfairly be expecting to be dealing with a level playing field in trading with the richest country in the world. Our money makes us better than them and therefore worthy of white glove, VIP terms in all trade deals with the poors.

I do not think legalizing weed belongs in the category of Fentanyl and cocaine.
Not all drugs are the same.

My wife is a constant thinker and has problems turning her brain off enough to get to sleep. She was prescribed Xanex, but she hated waking up feeling like she chugged a bottle of Nyquil.
So, she got a prescription cabanas card here in NY state. She switched to THC gummies and has thrown out her Xanex.
Weed is legal here in NY. I enjoy my weed nightly.
Legalizing weed creates a tax that benefits the state and takes it out of the dealers' hands.
I would much rather hang with a bunch of stoners, than belligerently drunk folks.
No one at sports venues are starting fights because they are stoned,

One other thing. We were in Texas two months ago for my father's funeral. Did not see any dispensaries but I saw two LARGE smoke shops in the little town of Woodville. They sell "deltas" which are chemically altered states of THC to get around the laws. People gonna get high and drunk regardless of the availability of drugs. Legalize it. Tax it, treat it like booze when folks get behind the wheel. Reap the benefits.

Edit: Wanted to make sure I stated legalizing weed... not Coke or Fentanyl.

I have the same issue as your wife, my brain wont shut off so I ended up taking Ambien for a few years, it turned my brain off but there were times I did stupid things, like not timing it right and going right to bed as soon as I took it...........made food, texted people. called people and did not remember one dam thing. I smoke a little before bed and then it's all about the zzzzzzzzzz`s and no horrible story the next am.

I had more than my fair share of coke back in the day.
It's the only drug i hated doing but did. Kept wanting more the evenings when I did it.
Stayed up all night. Felt like shite the next day. Felt remorse after. And did again next time someone brought it around.
    A super vicious circle.
Would never touch it if it were around these days.

It was a dark chapter in my life.
    Now I'm just boring.
