My favorite way to watch now. Look up the score before I decide whether to watch or not. Better for my health.
TX Tech had Florida on the ropes before letting it slip late, and UH is, of course, very familiar with Tech. Sampson meant it when he gave thanks to his "Big XII brethren." I feel like Sampson and the Coogs should be well prepared.
When I last lived on campus, Guy Lewis was coaching Basketball and Bill Yeoman was coaching Football. They couldn't figure out if it was Jepsen Stadium or Robertson Stadium because the name on the stadium was different than the one on the map and Football was played at the Astrodome anyway. And I spent almost two years taking care of Shasta III in the small cage on campus. I drove by what used to be a familiar route coming back from the Medical center and NOTHING but the street names were familiar.
LOL, Yeah, the UH campus looks complete different from the days when Guy Lewis and Bill Yeoman were here.
Same. My wife is a UH grad and I'll always pull for the team with "Houston" on the front of their jersey. Plus, I'm a Sam Houston grad. That should count.
I was expecting a mix of old and new, but shocked I could not spot anything familiar at all. I could not even get my bearings.
They've had some heartbreaking tournament exits the last few years. In the last six or seven seasons, I'm not sure any school has "knocked on the door" as consistently as Houston (maybe Gonzaga?). J'Wan has been there for most of it. I wish that cumulative effort gave them literal bonus points tonight. But it's a 0-0 one-game elimination tournament. It's like they've won five Game 7's in a row and still need to win one more.
Refs for tonight's NCAA Championship game are Ron Groover, Doug Simmons, and Terry Oglesby. Hoping they don't call ticky tack fouls on us and let us play our style of play. Hoping next year each team gets a challenge like they do in NBA to help eliminate bad calls. Looking forward to being able to enjoy a game that is officiated evenly for both teams.
It’s nice to see the Houston Cougars Basketball forum blow up. It’s been a long time coming with many heartbreaks but it just feels this is a team of destiny. For Sampson to get his 800th win with a championship would be beyond awesome. GO COOGS
