Let's hope it's just a blip, I'm retired and just going to live off cash reserves for a while. Unfortunately many others don't have that option. RMDs are going to force many elderly to take the loss.

Fortunately for the elderly, they support this man, so somehow they will blame this on somebody else and support this man's third term desires.

This is what happens when trans people are allowed to swim at women swim meets.

The modern system of international trade collapses. And people say this stuff doesn't matter.

Imagine if bernie was president and he caused the markets to tank overnight for something he did and then the next day he goes golfing while the markets implode lol

Imagine the reactions from MAGATs and foxnews

    First - I can’t picture Sanders golfing.

Second - if Sanders did something to increase recession odds to nearly 60%, the Republicans would be shouting and screaming and on television and then the feckless Democrats in Washington would abandon him at the first sign of public anger.

The current Democratic leadership is ineffective.

As ****ed up and illogical as it is - it is reality and the Democrats need leadership that can read and understand people.

Yep, and I wouldn't worry about the stock market. It will start recovering in about 6 weeks. Good news is companies a beginning to bring good jobs back to this country.

This is a reminder to the MAGATs that corporations were already onshoring high value supply chain jobs at record pace without putting dumbass universal tariffs costing everyone money.

Its just funny how delusional these people are

I can't say I am against the spirit of protectionism, but protectionism or not, tariffs are taxes. And the President of the United States has no authority to issues taxes by decree. I expect these tariffs to roll back by the end of the week because they're ultimately illegal and the Trump administration will claim they fixed all our structural trade imbalances. But the damage to our reputation amongst our trading partners won't be rolling back.

Tariffs in the modern economic framework are punishments for bad faith foreign actors dumping products at below market costs to crush local industry, not a remedy for import-export mismatches.

I can't believe half of you voted for this guy, again. His campaign should've been dead in the water during the primaries.

I think you are confusing Democrats responding and communicating vs Democrats being able to get national attention the way a political leader of a true MOVEMENT can.

Right now the true Democratic Party of the future are the voices on the ground and the activists. I see them doing things and making the evening news with protests even here in Dallas. So some of that opposition is brewing yes and breaking through even without major persona like a 2014-2015 Donald Trump did for the anti Obama tea party coalition.

Yes Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer are incapable of making the news but that doesn’t mean they aren’t messaging. They just don’t understand the media and aren’t the type of personalities that are needed to break through the Trump noise. They are legislative strategists… not really political leaders. I think we need to be honest about that and stop making these blanket statements about “the democrats”… because you and I both know there’s no one thing really that defines “the democrats”. Right now there is a pro-democracy/anti-Trump coalition in the United States and the Democratic Party legislative strategists in DC who currently have no governing power in the minority should not be expected to lead the masses out of the wasteland.

The reality is it’s the grassroot movements that will likely be what’s relied on and I honestly am a little concerned if there is a messianic counter figure that emerges right now anyways that is able to break through our media daily and have that much power over people the way Trump does.

Yes I do think opposition voices need to be out there more and need to break through with a vision for the pro-democracy coalition. However we just gotta stop with this expectation that if only Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries just started doing Trump like craziness that then FINALLY the Democratic Party would be the savior we need them to be.

The truth is… and this sounds cheesy to say but… it’s the people or the grassroots organizers right now that get the opposition through to the other side and help define what the pro democracy party looks like as an opposition to Trump fascism moving forward. The Tea Party defined what the opposition to Obama was which led them to Trump. What is it that the grassroots will do to define the opposition to Trump fascism??? I don’t think that’s Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries nor should we lead people to believe it should be just as the Republicans never relied on Mitch McConnell and John Boehner to be the voice of the Tea Party.

**** trump he's making this 100x worse, but a recession was coming anyways. Too much cash artificially infused, inflation like crazy a recession as a reset was coming to economy as a correction regardless.

A recession wasn't coming anyways. The federal reserve predicted 3% growth when trump got into office. We had record lows unemployment. We had a manufacturing boom happening.

Literally all trump had to do was auto pilot the economy he was handed and we'd be doing fine. Instead he took a sledge hammer to the economy and ****ed it up for literally no reason.

you have no idea what you're talking about

    no.
even after Trump 2.0 won the elelction, the leading economists and the Fed were forecasting
2025 GDP growth (the opposite of a recession) in the 2-3% range

    in Feb 2025, JP Morgan predicted a 40% chance of recession in 2025;
In Mar 2025, JP Morgan revised it to 60%
anyone who has not lived in a cave over the past 2 years knows that
    the opposite has happened
lots of words put together that, when taken as a whole, is meaningless

This is a comforting lie MAGATs will continue to tell themselves to deal with the cognitive dissonance of what they actually voted for.

Its going to be one of those untruths that will never die no matter how definitively it is disproven because it is more about emotional regulation than actual facts. You"ll still hear people claiming it to be true in 30 years no matter how many times you rub their nose in the lie - like the "dagger in the back" story that Germans told themselves to explain how the great German Empire lost WWI.
